    Rowland Thaxton was (too) competetive until the cuts stoppage (thaxton cuts easy, breaking news.)

    what about rowland getting absolutely outclassed by hatton in a few rounds?

    british title requires beating theb est in britain, commonwealth requires beating the best of britain and the commonwealth.

    area level> regional level> domestic level> commeonwealth level> euro level> fringe world level> world level> elite level.

    The WBU to Ricky Hatton meant he could make this simple equation work in his favour...:yep

    Build a massive fan base in your home town and Market it around your favourite football team + sell shitloads of tickets and be marketed as the lad who the punters can relate too = MEGA BUCKS...£££££ $$$$$ £££££

    Regardless of what you think of the WBU, Ricky Hatton made it work for him...:deal

    nope, not at all, lets not get into this business, I se what you're saying in that they bring in ghanian journeymen as commonwealth defences (thats dodgy promoters rather than the titles fault), but the fact still stands, magee was ranked higher by the sanctioning bodies and by the british boxing body before the hatton fight.

    despite the two losses he never even should have had.

    This is 2011. NOT 1950. The CommonWealth belt hasn't been signficant for over a decade. Matter of fact some of their bouts were so mediocre they became a running joke amongst the SKY panel as some of their bouts were refused sanctioning by the Boxing Board of Control. Those were usually the bouts that included African road sweepers no one had ever heard of.

    I agree with you (amazing!) but havn't all titles lost their merit somewhat thanks to people deciding the opponents rather than rankings deciding who is worthy? the commenwealth has gone down the drain somewhat as I have admitted, but also remember, it wasn't 2011 when Hatton foguth Magee. look, Magee WAS ranked higher at the time, by just about everyone, its a fact.

    You're a ****ing idiot. I have already PROVEN this is a flat out lie and yet you're still peddling it as fact.
    Tell you what quote your source and show us WHAT sanctioning body's and WHAT independent British rankings had Magee ranked higher than Witter back in 2002. This id love to see..... You take your time though finding that information....

    because boxing monthly said so proves it as a lie? Eamonn Magee was ranked higher than Witter by most bodies, and by the british, back then it was talks of Hatton vs MAGEE, not hatton vs witter, and magee gave a far better fight than witter would have given at the time, hatton would have killed witter, eamonn magee was MUCH better on the inside than witter, remember when witter hit kotelnik and kotelnikstood up to it, witter didn't know what the **** to do!!!!
