    Suppose the following...

    * A prime 140 pound Ricky Hatton

    * A prime 140 pound Amir Khan

    * Fight at Wembly Stadium

    * Neutral and fair referee and judges

    Who wins and how??

    Opinions please!

    I personally see Hatton walking him down and stopping him mid to late!

    Wath everyone now claim Khan gets destroyed while about 90% of the people picked him to beat hatton after maidana/zab.
    If Khan beats rios easily it will change again.

    Yeah thats a good point, results do influence peoples opinions, but thats only natural! Khan has struggled in quite a few of his fights and pressure fighters have given him a hard time! Even Michael Gomez had him rocked.

    Hatton, as you know, was an excellent pressure fighter and although he had a ton of flaws i do think he would have pinned Khan on the ropes a lot!

    Saying that, Khan has a ton of good weapons and could well have boxed Hatton out of the fight, we will never know either way!

    I always felt Ricky would have beaten Khan, he had pretty fast feet as well and would be much stronger.

    it's a very hard one to predict. hatton never slowed down in 12 round fights where as khan spends a lot of time on the back foot witch wears him out, hattons conditioning was incredible like bradleys and as stated before he was an excellent pressure fighters up close and wouldn't give khan the room to work if he could cut the ring off quick enough witch i reckon he could of. things in khans favor are his hand speed and accuracy. hatton left himself very open when jumping into opponents and khan doesn't just throw 1 or 2 punches a time its 4's and 5's. we've seen how khan reacts to a fighter being so close to him with the elbows and pushing and complaining. well hatton was a totally different animal up close compared to peterson and i think the mauling and body punching would have ground khan down by the 9th or 10th round. but i think a prime hatton would still rule todays light welter weights.

    Khan's last fight proved that he has trouble with his defence ad fighting on the inside. If Hatton were able to get through Khan's powerful offence and speed, he'd make mince meat of Khan with some vicious body shots and Hatton style wrestling!

    Different level of fighter completely. Hatton had great workrate, footwork, worked the body to a tee and only lost to Pac and Floyd.

    Khan has been sparked after 50 seconds, should have lost to Limond after his long count, Gomez had him in trouble, Out on his feet against Maidana, struggled with Mccloskey who i really really don't rate!! and just lost to Peterson.

    Prime against Prime Hatton would walk through Khan, Khan has good power whenever he manages to sit down on his shots but he never does. Hatton in his prime was relentless and his inside game was excellent.

    Hatton would stop him in 8.

    I think that's fair though, with each fight against a different fighter/style you learn something new about a boxer.

    On Saturday we saw how Khan struggles when a guy keeps the pressure on him and wants to fight on the inside. Peterson is a solid all round fighter, who by his own admission (post fight interview) isn't a natural pressure fighter and prefers to box. Yet he was able to make Khan very uncomfortable, didn't allow him room or time to get his shots off and once in close Khan had to resort to fouling or running to get space.

    Now, for me Hatton's best attributes were his footwork, which allowed him to close the gap on even the best fighters (see Mayweather) and his stamina, which allowed him to take shots and keep up a relentless pace for 12 rounds (see Tszyu). I don't see what this version of Khan can do to keep a prime Hatton off of him. Hatton would be in Amir's face all night, and when he's there we know how Khan covers up and leaves the sides of his body and head open to hooks. The majority of this fight would be fought with Khan backed up on the ropes and Ricky whipping shots to his sides.

    Against Tszyu we saw how Hatton was able to walk through the shots of a big puncher in order to get up close and do his own work. Khan does not possess the power of Kostya.

    Ricky's footspeed and footwork allowed him to keep the p4p best fighter on the planet back tracking for 10 rounds before being broken down by brilliantly timed straight rights and finally walked into a picture perfect left hook. Clearly Khan does not have a fraction of the timing or defence of Mayweather.

    Ricky will have no trouble getting Khan backing up and tracking him, and we have seen that Khan cannot fight or generate power going backwards and therefore has nothing to keep him off.

    Hatton had decent beard, and Khan doesn't hit hard enough to keep him off of him.

    Hatton probably doesn't stop Khan, but I suspect he wins a 7-5 or 8-4 type decision.

    khan would be ahead on points due to his superior speed but hatton got a fantastic body shot and would just keep moving forward. could go either way on the night,but the more likely would be khan on points i think.

    Khan can't take body punches. He never has been able to, so that's how Hatton would stop him. Khan has very fast hands though and he'd have some success early but he allows opponents far too much time to land shots on the inside and that would be suicidal against Hatton. There really aren't many boxers in 140lb history who could stand still, in the way Khan does, and take what Hatton possesses.

    Hatton KO7.
