No, Hatton was a level above. Let's not forget, like Hatton, he was a 2 weight alphabet title holder. Gatti does deserve more praise for his actual ability than he gets. But at 140, Hatton was definitely a better fighter.
i don't think much of hatton, i think even less of gatti. hatton smashes gatti inside six. for all his warrior spirit and showmanship, gatti was simply out of his depth at world level, a level hatton was successful for the most part at.
The only people Gatti got smashed at in his prime were a prime DLH at a weight he didn't belong in, and an utterly weight drained version of Gatti got truly humiliated by PBF. The point being that there really isn't much difference between them at world level. The difference between them resume-wise, in reality, is the fact Gatti could struggle against fighters that were not world class - usually tough fighters with a workrate. In terms of fighters both Hatton and Gatti have beat, there's not much between them.
Couldn't be anymore of a mismatch than Hatton-Pac, and would probably be a lot more entertaining. I stand by my choice.
Hatton by comfortable points win....I don't think he KO's gatti, but does enough inside work to win a majority of the rounds, and prime hatton eats gatti's shots... 8-4, 9-3 in rounds...Hatton..

I liked Gatti Hatton beats him though prime 4 prime, Hatton is underrated these days because of the Pac loss when he was no longer the Hatton of old and the 2 fights at 147 where he didnt look great (Colazzo & PBF).
So the ref had something to do with Hatton taking good clean shots from Tszyu and staying on his feet ? The ref was letting Hatton get away with stuff but your trying to say that when tszyu punched hatton in the face it was the ref that stopped hatton from falling over ? lol
Maybe you're right, and several levels was pushing it, but Hatton gets such a hard time on these forums for being kayoed by the pound for pound kings, whereas he should of got praised for taking them on, whilst Gatti is wildly overated due to his fan-friendly fights and untimely demise. And when you look at their records, Hatton has wins over Tszyu, Collazo, Urango, Castillo and Malignaggi, and his only losses were against the two best fighters of the decade, while Gatti lost nine times to all types of opposition and didn't beat a single elite fighter.
Hatton by a long way. At one point Hatton had some real speed, ( no pun intended). Hatton kept up with Floyd for six rounds. Gatti - god rest him couldnt keep up for 6 seconds. Hatton 120 - 108 x 3
