Gatti does have some skill when he has his head on straight. The first 3 rounds in his 3rd fight against Ward showed him being patient and lining up his shots.

However, like someone pointed out, you need speed to deal with Hatton and Gatti would need to be very lucky to catch him coming in.

For sure though, it would be another FOTY.

Gatti did have decent skills and a good set of legs, but it didn't take much for him to get caught with a good shot and go to war.

Hatton was not only on a higher level than Ward, but also much faster with his feet and hands. He'd cut off the ring on Gatti and land some shots, and then Gatti would forget all about strategy and start winging shots. Hatton would rough him up on the inside and hurt him to the body.

Gatti is of course "live", but chances are he loses. Hatton was simply a superior fighter.

Hatton was at least competitive for the first six rounds winning 2 rounds on 2 judges cards.

Gatti was dropped in the first and stopped in six.

  4. I got some lolz from this thread.

Hatton mops the floor with Gatti. Gatti doesn't lay down, gets some excellent shots in...maybe even stuns or hurts Hatton once or twice. Otherwise, its ALL Hatton. Ricky wins in style somewhere between rounds 9 and 11.

At 140 pounds, Gatti was already a bit washed out, and if we're talking about the same Hatton that fought Kostya Tszyu, Gatti stands no chance.

Yeah a chance against a past primmed Hatton Gatti has a chance.

When I answer MM, I assume it to be prime vs prime. In which case, Gatti has no chance against a prime Hatton.

This actually would of been a good fight. It's hard to say who would of won, but I'll still lean towards Gatti.

You must have started watching Hatton from the Mayweather fight. Hatton did have a h*ll of a chin. He had very little defense and used his head to block punches most of his career and still managed to stay on his feet and KO guys in the later rounds. Have you not seen the Tzsyu fight? It wasn't until later in his career that the out of ring unhealthy lifestyle and career of getting hit finally took its toll on him and left him with a weaker chin. If you're talking prime for prime his chin was just as good as Gatti's. Well maybe not as good, Gatti's chin was like granite back then...

    Hatton by bloody UD...

would've been as big a war as Margarito vs Mayorga at 147.

I would have loved to see this and thought about it back in the day. Problem was that when Hatton was a big name Gatti was already past his best, he would get beaten to a pulp. If he was younger it would be a lot more interesting and competitive, especially as Gatti is a much better boxer and slick when he wants to be but you know he will end up fighting Hatton's fight.

Now that would have been good.

Who do you think wins? Both chins are solid, Mayorga has a lot more power but Margo has higher work rate and better stamina

Thats got **** all to do with anything, Hatton stops Gatti in about 8 or 9 rds.

Less of the underrating of Hatton yet again please, the man only lost to the 2 greatest fighters since Whitaker & he was a genuine world class fighter.
