How anyone can use the wraps excuse for getting beat by trying the same attack tactic every time is beyond me. Hatton must still be feeling the pac ko.
Hatton had no business at 147. An unconvincing win against Collazo isn't going to be reflected on as a great win for Ricky in the future. He should have stayed at 140 and fought his great rival who was also a world champ. As for Ricky v Cotto, Cotto was just on another level, he was all wrong for Ricky, he was just too good and had Ricky fought Miguel and lost he would have also lost his undefeated record and surely his payday with Floyd. Surely you can't think Ricky would have beaten Cotto, I think most of the current 140ers would have beaten Ricky....but Cotto would have KO'd him.
That may well be a lot of $$$$ as far as you are concerned in relation to your wages but it's actually just another days pay stateside when it comes to scalping, it ai'nt even maths, just do the arithmetic. No tickets were ever put on public sale for this fight despite the bull**** claims that they wer sold out in 36 minutes, NONE WERE EVER PUT ON SALE!!! This was a big brit fight & not a yank job, the yanks in the MGM did'nt even know there was a fight taking place there. Mayweather could'nt attract flies to **** & had about 2/3 thousand paying spectators for his fights if that & hatton was just another brit who was of minimal interest too the yanks. The MGM grand also in partnership with Punch Promotions & a few other top end Hospitality groups made a killing along with the ticket agancies stateside as they all knew that it was feed time as Hattons fans had no where else to go for a ticket except on-line & that started at 8 x face value then lept up to 12 & 14 x face value depending on what agency you went begging too. Back in 1997 i was at the Tyson/Holyfield II (Ear-Bite fight) & that was also a case of no tickets being made available to the public & i had a spare $1500 ticket which i sold for $16,000 to an agency that advertised in the Las Vegas Sun, if i'd waited till the night they were changing hands for $35K to $50K as the Hotel Hosts were paying anything so that they could keep their "whales" happy........Now that may seem alot of money to you but in reality it's just a Casino chip to a main event high roller.
The only reason Hatton was with Graham and stayed with him is because he was cheap as chips. 10% is nothing. Especially for his guys who are fighting on the domestic scene, like Matthew Hatton was. He probably only made a hundred quid for an 8 week training camp on a lot of his boxers. Trainers like Jimmy Tibbs charge about £50 per hour I think. Ray Hatton would never fork out for that.
Everyone's gripes about dodgy managers and promoters, but boxers are no ****ing better. They have the most convenient memory loss when it comes to agreements or commitments made and are un-appreciative ****s who think everyone owes them something. If they realised what goes in behind the scenes to help them, they'd be ****ing astounded. The list is long of trainers, managers and cutmen not getting paid and good old Ricky, 'man of the people' can now join them! Trainers, Managers and Cutmen 95% of the time help their boys for 'unders', or in some cases, totally free as they want to see their fighter have their shot and go somewhere. The fighter in a lot of cases conveniently 'forgets' this when he makes it into some sort of status. They whinge about Promoters, yet don't want to be their own promoter and can do without the hassle (or financial committment) until they 'hit it big' and whinge that they were being ripped off for years and now will 'do it on their own' (does this ring a bell Ricky!) In this matter, Ricky, don't be a ****ing right pratt, pay the man his due. Actually, Billy's probably got buckley's as Ricky's probably already hoovered up his honker!
'Wicky Atton doesn't have to pay Biwwy Gwaham, Wicky needed a stwong twainer to 'ave a word with Cortez, who wasn''t wetting me 'eadboot, hug, wrestle, wabbit poonch an' wow bwow as I normally could when I 'ad me own wefs, wike Mickey Vann. 'Wicky was beating Fwoyd, beating 'im oop. Winning some wounds by a cooontwy mile, wike against Manny. I would've won if Billy had wapped me 'ands properwy, so i'm not paying the man'.
