I am not big on Hatton at this weight, but I would imagine he would still be good enough to beat Spinks in a close decision.

hmmm, i like this matchup. more than likely it'd be REAL ugly but in top form...hatton (mayweather) vs spinks (judah 1), i'll take hatton. if you don't have the power to get his respect, he will maul and wrestle the **** out of you. hatton had the speed to tag spinks and though it would rarely be clean, it'd be enough to pick up points

Spinks was pretty good, outboxed Prime Mayorga (best version), outboxed Kazamin, outboxed Jermaine Taylor, most of his losses were robberies bar the 2 stoppages. Plus he's very rangy, a southpaw, bigger, technically better. We nearly got Spinks-Mayweather instead of Mayweather-Baldomir, that would have been very interesting. Smart money is on Spinks

I'm just waiting for some idiot to justify Hatton by knockout, pointing to his being the better fighter than K9.

This is the classic forum, not the general forum.

Eh - I hate to say it, but these days it's six of one..

There is no bouncer to keep this club as exclusive as it's perceived as being. Spillover from the bad neighborhoods can and does happen.

How goes that "dedicated mod in Classic" campaign, anyway?

Zab Judah knocked out Spinks. Judah was a bigger puncher but its conceiveable Hatton catches up to him and TKO's him. Spinks wasnt very good if he couldnt box for 12 rounds and I think Hatton was better than Mayorga. I would favor Spinks to be able to outbox him though but wouldnt be surprised if Hatton won, because I dont think very highly of Spinks.

Hatton didn't score too many KO's against top 140lbers let alone 147lbers though, he had power to the body but not the head so much, plus he nearly lost to Collazo

this is true. i don't see hatton hurting spinks too badly but i also don't see spinks sitting down on his punches enough to hurt hatton at all; he may time his jumps coming in and throw him off balance but overall it'll be hatton working in close and spinks running and essentially potshotting. i don't think he'll get enough good work in doing that to win the majority of rounds

I didnt say KO, I would envision a TKO if it happened.

Better at some things, yes - that doesn't mean he's the bigger handful h2h for someone like Spinks...especially at welterweight. Hatton is a bit more controlled and idiosynchratic in his pressure. Mayorga's relative wildness actually helps him against pure boxers, whose rhythms it can disrupt.
