No Ricky... you cant catch a break. But serious.... Chapo kills him. Rosario is the WRONG fighter to leap into face first the way Hatton did. Rosario was a very good counterpuncher, with excellent timing. At some point he's gonna time Ricky coming in with either a short hook, or a straight right, and at that point Ricky would once again hit the ring post.
Yeah, I think Rosario ko's Hatton. Ricky would pressure Edwin and walk into something. It would be interesting to see if Rosario actually came forward and intiated. His best performances were when he came forward aggresively and threw short, devastating bombs i.e. vs. Bramble. Elizondo and Loreto Garza . Hatton was strong, though, so it would seem a first glance, Chapo's best strategy would be to counter punch since it wouldn't be too easy to walk through Ricky. I can see Rosario winning either way.
I quite fancy Ricky to keep Edwin under pressure to such an extent that Edwin is not able to compose and execute a..er..cute execution, Edwin didnt always perform well when forced onto the back foot, ignoring the Chavez result, for no other reason than that was Chavez, Edwin looked fairly uncomfortable against Rameirez, who's pressure was much simpler to read than Ricky's at his best, of course Edwin fell apart against Jose Luis in the rematch, and the manner of that sudden unravelling would not feel me with confidence against Ricky, Ricky showed against Ben Tackie that he is capable of some subtlety with his aggression, and i suspect his Excellant Closing footwork, The Scissor-step which took him quickly from defence and back to attack would i think be an antidote to Edwins attempts to create punching room to launch his right hand, I feel Edwin was a precision fighter, But Ricky can knock him off Kilter and perhaps sink him with body shots in the last third. - of course if Edwin was a natural Jr Welter the complection of his match would change for me .
I agree with this. I pick Ricky to stop him late. Sure, if Chapo catches him he could stop Hatton, but as noted here, if you crowded Rosario and stayed in his chest, he had real issues. Ricky is exactly that type of fighter.
this ,and lets not forget that rosario was at the end of his career when he fought at 140lbs and had a very shaky chin.he made 0 successful title defenses at that weight and ricky would fight him much like he did ben tackie.to say that a shaky washed up former lightwt surely blows out hatton is a insult to hatton.i think hatton wins with rosario having a punchers chance as always.
Actually, that's a good point. I was thinking a lightweight/prime Rosario here. Let's go with Hatton via mid-rounds TKO. Could end early, too. Let's not forget Hiranaka.
Exactly..Hatton would have the idea to pressure and crowd Rosario, but at some point, he would walk into a huge shot and end up getting poleaxed..flat on his back.
The Rosario who fought at 140 would not beat Hatton. His chin was really shaky here. He had the power to knock out anyone, but I think Hatton would avoid this punch and stop Rosario in 3.
Sure, look at how unsuccessful JL Ramirez was against him. Not to mention the fact that Rosario was already past his prime when he won the 140-pound title.
the 140 lb rosario is not a shoe in to win this fight in fact i cant believe i am saying this hatton in his prime year has a good chance here
Rosario would have iced him .. prime Rosario was a much bigger hitter than Paq at 135 and 140 .. not the fighter Paq is but against Hatton it would not matter ...
Rosario fell in love with his power and rarely produced the goods after some promising early years, but i'm not sure if Hatton has the durability to win this. Ramirez had to walk through some serious stuff and lose a number of rounds before able to expose Rosario's deficiences.Hatton would have been put flat on his back by some of those shots. I think i'll go with both fighters struggling in an ugly fight, before Hatton gets laid out circa 5th.The longer it goes the better it would be for him though. later career 140 Rosario was ****, of course Hatton wins that.
