Ricky Hatton vs Junior Witter

Hatton via mid-late stoppage via body shot. Probably takes over from 4th round onwards where Witter can't cope with the pace set.

 

Close-ish fight and probably scrappy as hell but I don't recall Junior winning a single tough fight really.

Hatton would give him hell and where's the evidence Witter would come through it?

The only way for Witter to win would be to time him and get a KO but there's also no evidence of Junior doing this, except the Harris fight.

Hatton has imposed his will on better fighters than Witter. People vastly under rate the Hatton of the Tszyu fight and the 2-3 fights leading up to it. He was a handful for anyone.

Typical Witter really. Looked good in spots. But for all everyone states it as a signature win, he made a right twat of himself once or twice, and he was on the way to lsosing the fight until a turnaround KD in the 9th/10th or so.

Can't remember if it was a 10 round fight or not.

Not that impressive at all IMO.

Hatton got rocked, dropped and hurt by much lighter punchers.

Witter had the power to deop heavily guys like N'Dou, who had a much better chin than glass boy Hatton.

@ the notion of Witter being a particularly hard puncher.

 

Witter drew with Raeside and Ramsey, I think Hatton was slightly better than those two world beaters.

And got beat by Judah, Bradley and Alexander comfortably. In his 3 fights against Judah, Bradley and Alexander, I'd say he was lucky if he won about 6 rounds in total against the 3 and none of them are that good.

 

So Hatton should have fought him then. Instead he made excuses. Nuff said

 

Well I wasnt there when this was first propositioned, dont know any of the negotiations etc.

From what I've seen, my view is Hatton would have beaten Witter had they fought at any point in their respective careers.

 

So why didnt he go and do it? He ducked him. End of

 

why do peole have to make up silly and pointless lies? Bottom line in spite of Witter's endless blabbering to the media, neither guy ever put an offer on the table to the other. Nobody took the bull by the horns to really make that fight happen so it didn't. If Witter wanted it so badly it was his responsibility to make Hatton an offer he couldn't refuse, because Hatton would have been by far the biggest fight of his career. Witter would not have been in the top five of Hatton's career. Nobody made a serious effort to make that fight happen so it didn't and Witter loses far more by the fact than Hatton does!

 

It would be a terrible fight, scrappy and holding all night long with few clean shots being landed. The attention it would gain from the public would be bad for british boxing once they got excited and actually sat down watched such a snooz fest.

 

Witter was 36 when he fought 23 year old, world champion, Devon Alexander. It was one last shot for a world title. I don't think many gave him much chance of winning that one.

He was well beaten by the other two, although Judah back then was a dangerous fighter.
