Castillo was shot, so I was never wooed by Hatton stopping him. I also think Khan has more pop than Ricky. People here are acting as though Maidana wouldn't be fighting back.

I'd have to go with Hatton if your talking pre Mayweather. They have quite similar styles but I'd give Hatton a huge advantage in stamina, speed, strength, boxing IQ and even punch resistance at that time. Maybe Maidana is more powerful than he was but that's not 100% certain because a lot of his KO's have come against opponents who were not world level and Hatton stopped some tough guys. It would be exciting but I'd take Ricky by late stoppage having dropped about 2-4 rounds and having been wobbled a few times. I knew Maidana would give Khan problems because of styles but I expected him to be able to stop him if he caught him and he couldn't put him away. Hatton was an inside fighter so there would be no style advantage for Maidana. I would still give Ricky a chance at 147 but he's lost power, punch resistance and stamina now.

Maidana by brutal Pac type of KO.

All these idiots saying Hatton would break his body are idiots. Is he going to outbox Maidana? Let him try he doesnt have the skills. He could try to make it an ugly fight by clinching all night which is more than likely his approach against a puncher like Maidana but Maidana isnt going to be pleasant on the inside either. He will elbow bite and headbutt if need be to get his punches in.

Hatton is one of the most overrated fighters in recent history.

Maidana in middle rounds if not earlier and this KO would be very brutal.

I love when North Americans call Hatton overrated and Calzaghe underrated, when the opposite is the case.

Go watch/rewatch the Urango bout, your telling me Hatton doesn't have the ability to outbox Maidana? He had the boxing ability to outbox someone like Maidana, whether he would do or not is another matter.

Hatton had better body punches than Khan, and worked his way to the body better than Khan. Khan's shot was perfect placement. If Khan can get to the body, Hatton could get to the body.

I'd say it would be different, I think Maidana would be faster so he'd nick a few rounds unlike Urango, but the Urango Hatton faught was a lot stronger and had better punch resistance, which is why I think Maidana would be TKO'd late.

Oh definitely, I believe it would be fairly similar to that bout though...it's the closest comparison that I can remember from Hatton's bouts.

Maidana is faster, and closes the distance surprisingly quickly, but with terrible footwork.

LMAO! Hatton is underated now by idiots like you because he lost to the two best p4p fighters of the last 5 years. Do you really think Maidana would have done any better against those two? Why do you think he would KO Hatton at world level when he has never done that to anyone at world level. Out of the 4 top 30 fighters he's faced he's only stopped one and that was and that fighter basicaly gave up.

Urango is nothing compared to MAidana. He is so slow and robotic. Maidana is much faster and heavy handed. His timing is also pretty damn good.

You keep talking about body punches. Well do you think Hatton is going to be risking going to the body and leaving his head open against a guy like Maidana. Not to mention Maidana is no slouch in the body punching department.

Also Maidana will be able to take Hattons punches. Hatton we know would not be able to take Maidanas.

Well of course he only lost to those 2. its the only risky fighters he gave a chance to. Collazo scared the crap out of him and as soon as he felt Urangos power he fought like a coward and clinched the whole time.

Name any other top fighter he beat without his refs.

Hatton always risked going to the body, it was were he produced the majority of his best work. Hatton/Urango is comparable to Hatton/Maidana...especially if the bout ends up in the centre of the ring. I feel Hatton would be producing the better work on the inside and out.

Khan dropped Maidana from a peach of a bodyshot...Hatton could land that shot with regularity, maybe not as clean, but he was an all round better bodypuncher.

Prime Hatton wins a decision or stops him with body punches. I think he'd smother Maidana, but have some rocky moments. The Hatton post-Mayweather would get stopped imo.

Once again how is Maidana and Urango the same. Urango is a guy who will always get outclassed by the top guys. He is much slower than Maidana.

Khan had other advantages Hatton would not have. Speed, power and reach.

Maidana would not have to worry about those things so he could concentrate more on attacking.

Just tell me. What do you think would happen when Maidana lands on Hatton. Hattons defense is his face and he also jumps into punches.

Khan has more pop in his punches than Hatton, and Maidana walked right through most of his shots. Khan is more elusive as well (who isn't more elusive than Ricky Hatton?), and Hatton could definately be hurt and dropped.

That being said Hatton actually has an inside game, and was great at working the body. Though why people keep saying Maidana is weak to the body is beyond me, he went down from a perfectly placed liver shot and got straight back up.

Maidana KO or Hatton UD (maybe TKO if he's lucky)... I would slightly favour Hatton, but it's by no means a mismatch.
