Hatton's only chance is Cotto being weight drained, and Cotto didnt become weight drained til near the end of his stay at 140 in 2005. Theres not much of a case to be for Hatton beating the Cotto who stopped Randall Bailey. Cotto was too big, and accurate a puncher, and by far the better technician of the two. This forum thinks too highly of Hatton. He wasnt that good.
Hatton may be smaller but I think he's actually stronger. And he got stronger as the fight goes on while Cotto tended to fade
Hatton starts strong with Cotto taking the mid rounds. This is an epic matchup. Cotto was bigger and stronger but Hatton is an excellent infighter and faster than Cotto. Hatton wins the early rounds with unorthodox attacks, mauling and infighiing and he may even hurt Cotto but will not put him down. Cotto starts to time Hatton and assert himself, marking up Hatton and landing viicious blows while picking off Hattons shots by mid rounds. Cotto even puts Hatton down in round 7 with a counter left hook, but Hatton is saved by the bell. It all comes down to the final 4 rounds. Cotto slows, and Hatton does not quit. The rounds are even and very brutal but Hatton is on the offense and the agressor. Byt the end of round 12 Hatton has Cotto pinned in the corner and is raining down blows in a last desperate attempt to win on the cards. Cotto gets the nod by 1 point because of the knockdown. FOY
This. Hatton starts fast but Cotto takes over as the fight progresses and pace slows, gets a late TKO or decision.
