The 140lbs version of Hatton is always going to beat the 140lbs version of Cotto and the 147lbs version of Cotto will always beat the 147lbs version of Hatton.

I completely agree. 140 Cotto was very chinny.

140 Hatton is an over-rated beast. 147 Hatton is under-rated. The Hatton that fought Mayweather would give Cotto a run for his money at 147.

Id pick Cotto at 140 or 147 in two v close fights.

very close fight to me with cotto having chin problem an hatton to me not really being skilled i have to give it to cotto hatton's main attribute is being able to bully ppl in the ring an i doubt that would go well if they matched up cotto late tko/ud

Agreed. Closer fight at 140 than at 147 IMO.

This is a great thread :good , I agree its a pick em , Cotto was a solid puncher @40 but Hatton brought an intensity that IMO Cotto wouldnt of been able to deal with , back then his chin was iron and Cotto was 1 paced and relied on power shots , i think Hatton would of took Cotto's best shots and made him fight at a pace he wouldnt of been comfortable with , and if you do that with Cotto you have a good chance of beating him !!!!

Would of loved to see this happen , and who knows we still might :deal

Cotto's vulnerabilty was often seen at light welter. He got through the Torres and Corley fights but prime Hatton was like a miniature Margarito. Walking forward, banging away to the body, taking a punch to give one back. Hatton's boxing skills were underrated there to, as seen in his one sided schooling of Malignaggi and the Urango fight.

Hatton by TKO in the 10th.

Im thinking of the prime prime Hatton, ie the one that wore down Tszyu.

iv thought about this before, two great body puncher with heart and good engines. i well wish this would of happened. as much of a big ricky hatton fan as i am i still think cotto is to big an strong for hatton but it would of been a close war of a fight that would defo end in a ko.

Hatton had a mad workrate which would be trouble for Cotto late in the fight. It's one of those fights that SHOULD have happened, had 'classic' written all over it.
