Hatton. No way is Cotto going the distance with him at 140.

:-( cotto wins at both weights imo hattons c v was very well looked after.
Everything was always in his favour and on his terms except two times where he got ktfo.

Hatton is not in the same league as Cotto. People talk 140, but Hatton has never faced a puncher of Cotto's magnitude at that weight. He'd get stopped at both weights.

It would have definitely been a good fight, but I think Cotto in 2005 would have TKO'd Hatton, probably on cuts. The fight likely would have played out somewhat similar to Cotto-Abdullaev with Cotto boxing on the back foot and Hatton pressing forward. Abdullaev applied just as much foot pressure as Hatton, but he wasn't nearly as busy with his hands. However, Abdullaev was much harder to find with clean shots than Hatton. I think it would have been competitive all the way, though.

I do think Hatton would have beaten the Cotto who fought Malignaggi in 2006. In that fight, Cotto was at his worst physically and fought most of that bout in spurts. I could see Hatton outworking him and winning fairly comfortably.

The body punching would be brutal as well as the shots on the inside this fight woulkd not make the distance

i feel Cotto has a better jab and his shots were tighter

Hatton just had so much bravado and toughness

Complete destruction of the most overrated fighter of recent times.

Cotto destruction. Hatton didnt like Urangos body shots so he outboxed him after he felt them. Once Cotto lands his body shots Hatton tries to box and he is not a better boxer than Cotto.

I agree with the part in blue, but disagree with the part in orange. A 140 fight would be more evenly matched. Cotto would be drained and would experience some problems, but being a far more intelligent and skilled fighter, he could eek out a decision should he box and not brawl.

At 147, Cotto would beat him up pretty badly.

    I wouldn't say Cotto would win 10/10.

But I would favour Cotto in pretty much any situation, barring the Hatton that fought Tszyu...and even then I would call it a 50/50 bout.

Hatton outboxed Urango before he got banged with body shots.

You've only got to look at him when he walks into the ring to see that he's not in top shape.

In any case, I've got Cotto in both fights - but he'd have to go to hell and back at 140 or 147. Hatton brings all the things that he doesn't like in an opponent..... but I just think Cotto is fresh enough to hurt Hatton and keep him hurt.

Both Phillips and Tszyu had Hatton in trouble on occasion, but neither could get the job done, one was outboxed, the other outbrawled.

I can see Hatton having the better of the earlier exchanges, his boxing skills are underrated whilst Cotto's are overrated - I just like the stalking version of Cotto over the boxer that we see more often these days.

I'd take Cotto to win a close but clear UD in a very compelling fight. Cotto has a better jab, better variety to his game, and is an even better bodypuncher than Hatton. I would back the Tszyu era Hatton to make the final bell, but he'd be out-thought and outgunned by the better all-round fighter.

At 147, Cotto knocks him out. Easy.
