About ten years ago, this may be the best fight that was never made. Both fighters were undefeated. Both had a lot of momentum, yet the fight never happened. How would this have played out? I give Hatton a slight edge, because Cotto has never particularly great against pressure fighters. He likes to have space to think and takr breaks. I think Cotto would win many of the later rounds, but not enough to get the decision, with Hatton building an early lead.

In fairness this was the time when Cotto's weight making problems were coming to the fore. In fact Malignaggi was his last fight there ( 140 ) whereas Hatton was more than comfortable at the weight. To the point that he went up for Collazo, found it hard, and went straight back down again.

This was a fight I really wanted to happen back when they both held belts at 140. Slightly favour Cotto as he was the more skilled fighter imo.

I felt at 140lbs Hatton was always the better fighter looking back it's probably because Cotto was drained. Anywhere above that and Cotto stops him for me.
