Paulie cant punch. He is basically a weakling. Doesnt deserve the fight. Hatton much too strong. Short night.
Malignaggi is a good fighter, he's got quite fast hands, and a massive heart but that's probably as far as I'd go. Hatton will apply to much pressure and will be too strong for him. Imo Hatton lost to pbf because pbf fought better on the inside than hatton, something malignaggi will not do, pbf was stronger than hatton, something malignaggi is not. So to say hatton will lose to malignaggi because he's quite fast and "slick" is not logical for me. Pbf, like him or loathe him, is a special fighter and imo it takes a special fighter, or atleast one who is a lot stronger than him to be heat hatton, and I don't think there is anyone stronger at LW. This is all without considering the difference Floyd mayweather senior has made to Hatton. I can see hatton stopping malignaggi with some whopping body shots, there's pain and there is struggling to be able to breathe, and when struggling to breathe I don't know that even malignaggi's heart could take him through. Other than that a relatively wide UD, although I can see malignaggi landing some jabs on hatton, and perhaps a few jabs followed by a straight right, but I don't expect them to hurt hatton and I expect him to return fire easily. Perhaps I am wrong but we shall see!
Nor is Hatton particularaly fast or powerful. What makes Hatton special is a nice combination of thugery and pressure and aggression. All things that are dependant on a certain amount of energy which can start to betray a fighter as he ages, espcecially if he is naughty between training. I think Bradley would cause Ricky problems right now with his superior defence and footwork - not much in it, but it's there. If Hatton isn't better than he was last time out - and there were circumstances for that fight that excuse and under par performance IMO - I would install Bradley as favourite. Regardless, it's the fight i'd like to see at the weight.
This is a very tough fight to call as both looked like **** in their last outing... It really hedges on what version shows up really If Malignaggi is in top form, his speed, great footwork and ring intelligence should keep Hatton at Malignaggis preferred distance.... If Hatton comes in top form and fights as good as he looks training under Floyd Sr. than I might favor him.. All in all its difficult for me to pick Hatton here mainly because Paulie has a solid chin and he will make it extremely difficult for Hatton to get in close to work the body.... Honestly I hope Hatton breaks a few ribs and has Paulie on the canvas screaming in agony. I just don't think its as likely as a Paulie UD is
Good points actually. Hatton is pretty quick, I'd say on a par with Bradley, but IMO his footwork is superior. For a guy that doesn't jab his output is very high 600-650 a fight. You are correct about his lifestyle, which will no doubt hamper him - but apparently his missus has said she is sick of him looking like a fat twat and to get his house in order. BTW - she is way out of Ricky's league, so he will do as he is told! As I said, Bradley is the man most likely of any of them - but he isn't a big draw and the fight won't happen. Bradley may be as well giving it the swerve and beating everybody else, to accede to the throne upon Hatton's retirement. Because a bad beating (which could happen) won't do him any favours.
i'm only ribbing you, just remember you saying pavlik was gonna give it to hopkins, and that he'd beat nigel benn. didnt you pick hatton to win this last week ?
he became very predictable in his footwork against mayweather though. rush in, quick shift to the left or right ,lunge in, get tagged .and again .
I think you are right that it is unlikely that it will happen. I see something like this though - Hatton smashes up Paulie but Paulie makes the final bell. Hatton looks bloody good in doing so. Paulie isn't the same afterwards. HE gets matched with Bradley. Because Paulie has had two nasty beatings he just does not have it any more Bradley stops him in four. In that case I could see real calls for Bradley to be matched with Hatton. Be an intrigueing fight. I would love to see it.
Yea I had a poor streak for a little while but I'm back picking the winners again....3 in a row now. And again I said the Benn-Pavlik fight would be a war with either getting dropped...No concrete pick really, you're saying I picked Pavlik because I said he would have a chance to win:yep
Especially after he had those two points taken off. But Mayweather is that type of fighter. He would make a lot of rushers look daft.
