Mayorga wins, due to weight and physical strength.

Hatton doesn't have the discipline to win,

    :huh please elaborate?

he had the discipline to beat everybody apart from pac and mayweather. and we all know that cortez took away any chance to win the mayweather fight.

he beat tszyu. much better all round fighter than mayorga ever was. bigger puncher and much stronger also.

callazo was also an all round better fighter than mayorga. he's a very underrated fighter. he was the first man to beat berto, but didn't get the decision.

I think you have to factor size into this mate.Hatton never had one good performance at 147 and Mayorga went back down to welter from 154.
You can't really use Tszyu that Ricky fought as anything like prime KT.
It's not an attack on Ricky.SJS has praised him many times here,as have I,but whilst my main concern would be size,Ricky's best performances were when he was roughhousing, and Mayorga was no slouch at that lark himself.
Truth is,Ricky was poor away from 140,and Mayorga was a huge welter.

The discipline to fight sensibly, and not catch shots from a WW who weighs about 165 +. Hatton moves in and out, and often neglects defence. What happens if he walks into two or three Mayorga Haymakers?

Hatton was the better fighter, but he can't over come the size here. His style was less effective against WW's, so what the hell is he going to do with Mayorga?

mayorga was only 2 inches taller than tszyu standing at 5' 9". mayorga may be a welter, but tszyu at light welter was stronger and had the harder punch. he was also more accurate than the erratic mayorga. what happens when ricardo lands? same thing that happened when tszyu landed. nothing. he's able to read mayorga's punches. mayorga is effective coming forward, not on the back foot where hatton would push him.

the reason hatton didn't do as well at welter as some thought he would is because he was up against a very underrated champ in collazo. who was a southpaw who could disguise his shots. hatton didn't know where a lot of the shots were coming from. that's why. he may have underrated collazo himself. he just beat the man at light welter who was a P4P star. who was collazo in comparison?

the other fight was with mayweather who was the best in the world P4P. cortez ripped him off but hatton still gave him one of his hardest fights. it wasn't until the middle of the fight that mayweather was able to time him. and this was while he wasn't allowed to fight. most of mayweathers opponents that were allowed to fight couldn't push floyd that hard.

it would of been a much, much harder fight if he was allowed to do his work on the inside. but he wasn't.

could you imagine what would happen if mayorga got in the ring with floyd?
it would be embarrassing. and i was a big fan of mayorga back then.

    hatton wins that fight. sorry.

In their prime Mayorga was TOO big and strong for most anyone at 147, especially a small welter like Ricky. Ricky plays right into Mayorgas style and would get busted up and stopped.

Who takes the better punch, Mayorga. Who lands the harder punch, Mayorga. When two brawlers meet up, having these two advantages usually wins you the fight.
