I don't think he was trying to make excuses, but Hatton did raise the issue of killing himself to drain down by boiling off 4.5 stone.

I stopped laughing once I saw the post-fight interview and realized:

Ricky Hatton is going to kill himself.

    Seriously.

This is weird, this morning I was in the car thinking about this fight, and I thought to myself, I would like to see Hatton do well, come back, put on a great fight, and successfully reignite his career. I had a nagging feeling in the back of my head that this was a rather silly notion, the idea that a fighter can take such poor care of himself, ignore the blatant holes in his defense, and ultimately succeed, doesn't usually play out that way. As nice a guy that Hatton is, and let's not BS ourselves, people love Hatton for a reason, he's charming/personable as hell, this kind of stuff doesn't usually work out. Hatton coming back and beating high level fighters this late in his life with this much mileage on him, absolutely needs to end in defeat in order to maintain balance/order in the boxing universe. (I'm serious about this) Had Hatton simply walked over Senchenko, it would have spoken ill of the current pool of fighters at 147. The reality is, Even people with as much experience and mastery of the craft can't hang without hard work and ungodly dedication to the science, and that, is ultimately how it should be.

    Slothrop:
Holy crap, that is really uncanny. Really good prediction man.

Maybe ricky should have taken an easier fight. He didn't look that bad, just real rusty. The guy might have too much heart from his own good. Hopefully he decides to hang it up and be proud of what he's accomplished. If he's stubborn and comes back he needs to ease himself back into boxing with easier fights.

Just leave it be now Ricky, youve had many memorable fights
    Think of the family
People will offer him big money now to fight Brook or khan
Dont take it ricky just retire

He should have taken a warm up fight though, and his advisors should have taken beter care of him and advised him not to go straight into a fight like this

If Hatton is serious about continuing (which I hope he doesn't) he needs to train year round. Blowing up in weight and then killing himself to make weight isn't going to cut it now that he's older.

At the very least a prolonged binge.

If he does commit suicide, it will be a slow and messy suicide via coke and booze.

I was pretty pissed off at the Primetime guy for not ending the interview earlier. Ricky on multiple occasions basically asked the guy to stop asking him questions and he just kept on going. Total douche.

Malignaggi seemed to realize that Hatton will no longer be his golden goose and the rematch is off the table. He seemed mad at Hatton.

He isn't at all excited about having to settle for a less lucrative rematch with Senchenko (or with the prospect of possibly going back to the Ukraine)
