Who the majority of the crowd is paying to see shouldn't have any bearing on the TV running order.

Hatton vs. Senchenko is a meaningless one-off. It doesn't have any impact on the welterweight scene, or really, on either man's career. Both are over the hill. One has been relieved of his paper champ status, and the other has been away too long. As a result of those facts, neither is currently relevant. **** plus **** equals ****. Two irrelevant boxers competing doesn't suddenly become relevant because one of them used to be top world rated. It's a measly 10 rounder and doesn't mean squat. It doesn't matter how much star power Ricky still has, and on paper it really shouldn't outrank any of the other bouts on the card. (regardless of what hardware is on the line, or whether it ought to be)

It makes boxing look bad to put joke matches up on television as the main event of an otherwise solid card, strictly on the basis of "name value" when the big name has been out of the game for years.

    Round 8

Buckland is moving to his left and hacking away with left hooks to the head as Foster dips down and protects himself. Buckland is throwing quick slashing combos, many of them one-handed. Buckland keeps moving and chipping away, putting in right uppercuts to the chin when pressed inside and causing Foster to change tack and try to counter on the back foot.

    10-9 Buckland

    79-73 Buckland

    Yes I know all that...

I guess it is naive to criticize in todays era fighters getting titles-/fights with out earning them.. But that is how it goes...

    Well, anyway lets roll.:good

I am eating Cheddar Jalopenos and drinking beer while enjoying this thread...

Put it this way, ish - if Oscar De La Hoya came back against say Cory Spinks in a 10-round light middleweight comeback...it would draw lots of viewers and sell at the gate, because it's Oscar.

That doesn't mean it should be the ****ing main event, if the card also features say Canelo vs. Lara & Mares vs. Moreno II. It should instead be a featured "special attraction" undercard bout - and that's what the Hatton vs. Senchenko circus act should be here. Dig?

I'm not sure what you are getting at IB. Without the Hatton fight this card wouldnt be happening. And if the fight was moved earlier on the card, half the crowd would leave before the fights we consider to be more "worthy".

Anyway, if you think this is bad, wait till Freddy Flintoffs debut!

Uh, beg to differ. Quigg vs. Munroe II, the super featherweight bout we just saw, and Murray vs. Navarro makes for a very nice card. Better than many British TV cards this year.

This doesn't need the "main event" to be worth tuning in for, at all.

    :blood

90% of the people buying this PPV are doing it to see Hatton, anything other than having Hatton as the main event would be idiotic.

You seem to be quite pessimistic when it comes to the British Boxing cards.
