I am sure it would but I don't think that it would sell as much as Pacquiao vs Mayweather. Floyd has made himself somewhat of a household name, he was on the cover of ESPN, Dancing with the stars, WWE, The tonight show with Jay Leno, he hangs with rappers and all. He is a much bigger draw than people give him credit for. Hatton on the otherhand is not known at all outside of boxing circles.

Both fights would be big money pacman may make more with Hatton though since he tends to be a more reasonable negotiator. My point with my original post was that the gate is virtually meaningless in a big fight over here and that is something that European fans fail to acknowledge. It comes up every time when we discuss potential fights with guys like Hatton, Calzage or Haye. We have arenas over here that can seat 80,000 plus, the fights are held in 15,000 person arenas because it is more profitable.

Its just that your banks don't know how to use it.

It's not more profitable at all.

When the arenas happen to belong to Casinos, the Casino will chip in a wedge of cash in order to use the fight as a loss-leader.

There's nothing inherently more profitable than having a fight in a 15000 venue than in an 80000 venue, if you can sell out an 80,000 venue.

The reason fights get held at, say, Madison Square Gardens rather than Yankee Stadium, is that there haven't been any fights made that could sell out Yankee Stadium.

I'm not refering to the fights in the garden. I am refering to the fights in Vegas. The casino puts up a site fee to bring people in which more than makes up for the smaller audience not to mention that demand for the tickets is high enough that you can price them insanly high and still make a handsome gate.

In any case the real money is going to come from PPV audience. IN the states Pacman vs Mayweahter would sell a lot more than a hatton fight but I would be willing to concede that the UK PPV would probably still make the hatton fight more profitable overall. The floyd fight is much bigger legacy wise though and whichever fight he takes will make the other one waaay bigger if he can win.

If Hatton doesnt fight JMM or Pac then he'll go after one of the belt holders.

I miss the days when big fights were held in classic stadiums like yankee, comisky, and soldier. (not that I was alive or anything) I would love for pbf-pac to be held in a classic outdoor venue like this instead of crappy NHL at wrigley field

A Hatton vs Pac fight, prime UK time would sell 2m buys, at £15 each, without question.

Throw in a 100000 live gate at Wembley - which would sell out :deal and you have a shitload of cash.

Much more than a fight at a US casino would generate. They could price the tickets something ridiculous and they would still sell - all you need is a train fare to London, a couple of nights in a hotel and spending money. A damn sight cheaper than going to Vegas!!!

This fight, if it happens, will be at Wembley, and of story. And at 10pm GMT.
