A bit before my time but Tszyu had boxed 2 rounds in 2.5 years prior to that fight.

He got Tszyu at the right time but it was still a shock that he won.

Not a shock on the scale of Joshua v Ruiz but certainly at least Smith v Eubank Jnr level.

    Very good win for Hatton.

Yep, also benefited from Micky Vann reffing the fight. A great win nonetheless.

love that free punch to the balls the ref allowed Ricky

definitely the moment quitting started to enter Kostya’s mind

Still say its up there with one of britains best wins. Tyszu was the real deal. He was older but anyone that knows anything about tyszu....knows he wasnt the type to enter semi retirement.

Reportedly was doing about 8 hours a day in training camps.

Let's be honest had this been anywhere else in the world Hatton gets taken out. The Ref was a joke that night but that sums up his career in the UK in all honesty. Massively benefitted from hometown refs.

A fantastic win in a good scrap where Hatton at his absolute best defeated an ageing champ in Tszyu.

It was a classic case of a young hungry fighter defeats a faded champion at the right time.

He was P4P number 2 at the time and Mosley was at 1 I think. It was a great win and the timing was spot on for Hatton. Clearly his best win.

Let’s be real though, no one was predicting a Hatton win.

It was one of those fights where Hatton was expected to put on a good performance but was facing a very good Champion.

I thought he would lose pre fight along with everybody else but once the ringwalk started, the hope of victory built by the minute.

Unlike Calzaghe v Lacy where I was 100 % confident in a win for Joe i was more like 40/60 against a win for Ricky V Kostya , for my two bobs worth the fights v Mayweather & Pacquiao were not a cat in hells chance for him .

Great post, after watching DeLaHoya Pacquiao ringside I knew Ricky would be wiped out in a couple of rounds and he had zero chance of beating Mayweather 2 years earlier.

As with Benn-McClellan, it was made all the more SWEETER due to fans never stopping crying about it.
