All great points... I wonder whether or not the die-hard Pac fans know what the word "limitation" means. And if they do, does it only come into play with Pac/Wlad or Pac/Haye? I've seen some say Pacquiao could beat Mayweather, Cotto, and De La Hoya. That pretty much leaves me at a loss for words.
I've actually been told he hits as hard as Pavlik because Roach said he hits as hard as a middleweight.
Good thread, and nice to see no bitching (so far). I don't think Rick should split from Billy, but I do think there are things he should work on. Bringing in another trainer - whoever that May (haha) be - wouldn't be a bad idea. Two heads are better than one, and I think Rick would benefit greatly from some extra input. Being a musician, I know other musicians who have stayed with the same tutor for years. There's nothing wrong with that, but sometimes there's only so far you can go together. A friend of mine decided to go with another tutor for a couple of lessons and the overall improvement was GREAT. Me, I'm self-taught, but I can see how it can work for some people.
It's a little too late for Ricky Hatton to switch trainers right now. That doesn't mean he can't improve, Ghram should change their training habits and work on some of Hattons weakness. I question some of Hatton's wins though. His win over Tszyu was very dirty. It didn't seem fair after watching it, all that clinching and hitting while holding. His fight against Collazo showed how **** poor his defense was, despite the fact that he could of won it more convincly. But what allowed for Hatton to keep the fight close was the referee allowing Hatton to hold and hit. His fight against Uragno showed he can box, but Uragno really was just a **** poor fighter from Columbia, and his win against Castillo was more about Castillo being completely shot. The next thing you know he's facing the #1 P4P fighter in the world. That's like fighting a C class fighter, then the next fight an A class fighter.
Freddie Roach doesn't teach defense. The only fighter he has with good defense (that I can think of off the top of my head) is James Toney and Toney pretty much taught himself how to fight like that.
