Ok so we all know what happened with the comeback , but i think Hatton could have still been fighting if he went a different route , or certainly achieved some success with the comeback. He should have started by doing Prizefighter which i am nearly 99% sure he would have won and a nice trophy to show the kids. Then settled an old score by fighting Junior Witter, Which again i think he would have won. Then he should have stepped up the class to euro level, beat a couple of ranked fighters then up the class again and perhaps could have won a world title. I just feel he threw himself in at the deep end after not fighting for so long and then with the defeat no options left. However if he had have gone the way i would have done it he would have at least achieved some success with the comeback. Whats your thoughts ?
Kind of agree but the prizefighter is an extremely dodgy comeback for anyone least of all a big name like hatton,he would of had no time to shed rust in a 3 rounder where a young up and comer would be looking for a big scalp.so that would of been a disaster The junior witter idea is nice but again after so long out a cagey spoiling counter puncher like witter would of been bad matchmaking again His best scenario would of been a 6 rounder against a rated youngster at domestic level but who was easy to hit and didn't like slowing the pace down, then Ricky could of done as he liked and built confidence as well as shed rust I actually think world level would of been difficult to attain again but after a couple of build up bouts I think the witter fight would of been a great idea If he got through that who knows?
And a prizefighter trophy to show the kids won't really impress next to his WBA,IBf,ibo and ring magazine light welter belts as well as WBA welter belt add various other trinkets and ex British light welter champion Ricky's prizefighter trophy would look pretty poor
I'd rather lick a hobo's filthy, cheese encrusted ***** than watch a shot Hatton chase Junior Witter around for 10/12 rounds of nothing.
If he had fought in the January 2013 Prizefighter welterweights , he would have won with ease , the short three round format suits a high intensity fighter like Hatton , he probably would have stopped some of those guys. Then Junior Witter who is a difficult opponent because of his akward style but i am pretty sure he would beat him but I do agree it would be a risky one. The point is the fight he took was far too big a leap to soon and thats why it failed, straight to a 12 rounder was crazy in my view but at the time i believed he would win in the later rounds by shots to the body and well it was the opposite that happened. If you read this far you will see that i am writing that the first too responces to my post were by a pair of knob heads ! ha ha , Stopped reading at Prizefighter yeah im sure ! Does a bear **** in the woods !
I do believe you would watch it , your responce tells me that , it was a bit like a kid at school who makes on they hate the girl that they really fancy, of course you would watch it :bbb
Yeah people shouldn't just slag people's opinions I don't want to sound like an ******* but wasn't it a 10 rounder I totally agree though it was too big a jump
Think your right it maybe was a 10 rounder come to think of it , then i think the plan was Paulie Malignaggi if he won
sorry mate, your really been sucked up by hatton and his pish .. he only came back to get a tv deal ....not for his legacy or to see if he still had it , it was so he could get a tv deal... i would think more of hatton if he admitted it ...
No, he should not have gone into Prizefighter. He could have gone a different way, maybe it would have worked for him.. a 6 rounder, then an 8 rounder etc. But Hatton didn't want to hang around, he wanted to see what he had left at world level and unfortunately it didn't happen for him. To be fair, although he didn't look the same as in his heyday.. he wasn't too shabby against Senchenko especially early. As the rounds went on, the lay off and the bad lifestyle took effect.
