What exactly is it thats wound you up Craney? Not being a dick head mate I kind of see what your saying and have touched on this in the past myself, if someone's annoyed you for the detriment of the sport go after them personally and make your point to them personally. There's nothing wrong with a few rivalries in the forum, in fact there's not enough "personal rivalries" IMO.
Certain people, that I have "monitored" over a period of time, don't offer any insight to a valid view or opinion. They exist to discredit and mock, offering nothing of value to the forum. The only thing they seem content on is talking anything other than boxing itself, such as, rumours, speculation, promoter beef, purse bids, all that nonsense. Whenever someone talks boxing, posts a decent thread on boxing or on a fighter, they come along as a group with all this "This." ****, and "Stopped reading at" crap. It offers nothing to the forum. If you dont agree with the opinion, fine, but say why, offer something instead of lame useless pointless agenda ridden posts. If you DKSAB then I can perhaps understand your unwillingness to talk the sport of boxing. But the thing is I have no doubt that these people DO know a thing or two about boxing, but they chose not to participate in debate. It destroys the meaning of the forum and the flow of threads and it kind of says something about the person. They should be embarrassed. Why not just stay on zombie twatta where the 150 character attitude fits right in with the rest of the cesspit? The OP has clearly started a genuine thread and stated valid opinions, yet the same few, as always, are here again with the same ****. Thats all I'm saying on the matter.
Excellent post 100% this. I was devastated walking out of the MEN, probably more so, than walking out of the Garden Arena after the Mayweather loss. But both those nights (along with the Malignaggi fight) were nights I will never forget & hold the memories in the highest regard. On a separate note, I still watch clips of the mayweather weigh-in & get goosebumps. That was probably the best atmosphere I've ever been in.
Craney has just become my poster of the week! Couldnt agree more :good Those people probably know who they are
Hatton needs to get hsi **** together and comeback, nothign wrong with a loss here or there he has more to offer and was extremley competitive at world level not too long ago
An elite level boxer, just fought Manny Pac and Floyd Mayweather, doing 'prizefighter' then the domestic/euro circuit at 33 years old, that's crazy talk. My only thoughts in his comeback are that Senchenko has been talked up ever since, when the reality is that Senchenko was outboxed by Maliganggi and even looked very uncomfortable with Paulie's power (seriously, youtube the fight). So, it's not difficult to deduce that Hatton was overwhelmingly shot to pieces after years of abusing his body, and being somewhat overrated in his prime anyway. Ricky was a champion in his division, often showed real heart though. I give him all the credit in the world.
I have to agree with Craney91 , to me i cant understand the mentality of what some people post , just seems quite childish , but i try to ignore it and not rise to them besy policy i think. Anyway back on topic , lots of good points have been made and maybe the prizefighter idea was not that great for Hatton, but i feel that during the build up he contradicted himself because the comeback was billed as being about redemption and worth more than any world title , but in other interviews he was saying anything less than a world title was not good enough. I really dont think the trainer really made any difference and Shannon did a good job in my opinion, Hatton just could'nt change his style and perhaps that was also part of the reason he got beat.
You just get fed up with seeing new posters or posters that dont post often starting relevant threads and then getting attacked by the "group". Unbelievably childish posts like "Tl;Dr" or "This." or "Stopped reading at...." The "group" just assumes every new user is an alt. Its the wrong attitude to take. Make that assumption over a period of time if you must, but let new posters breathe, at least some of them are offering way more to this forum than the "group" are. What do they offer? Good thread anyway mate :good (I'll get accused of being your alt now  ) I'm of the opinion Ricky should never have come back. 3 years out for any fighter is bad, but 3 years out for Ricky is just not the same. Ricky abused himself for those 3 years, like most of his career. It wasn't just any 3 years, it was a tough 3 years, alcohol, drugs, depression. You can't just turn it of and on like a lamp. Credit to Ricky for getting back in shape, but he was never Floyd Mayweather in terms of boxing skills. Floyd Mayweather can take time of, because he is Floyd Mayweather. Thats just it. Ricky Hatton was a fantastic boxer in his day, brilliant to watch, over hyped by the British in my opinion, but he was must watch, but he never had the ability mentally or physically to be able to take 3 years out at ANY point of his career (never mind after devastating defeats) and come back and do the same as before. Ricky beat himself outside of the ring between fights, this man just couldnt take that long out. He lived a fast life and got a football-esk diehard support because of it. He is "one of us" as they say.... Prizefighter would of been an insult to Ricky and Ricky would have felt embarrassed to take part in something like that. It was either straight in at the deep end or nothing at all for Rick. Go hard or go home. Some will say they hand picked Senchenko, and most thought he'd do it anyway, still. But it just wasn't to be. Ricky was so far of the pace and so rusty, that the time had well and truly passed. After a year he may have been able to do something, but 3 years just destroyed Ricky. His accuracy was off and as the fight went on his stamina went to. Ricky was a relentless fighter, if you take away his key tools, you take away his game...and thats what we saw. Its like taking away Messi's ability to dribble. Its basically over.
he should of fought that one his kid fought chris van summit or other,, he even had one of hattons old titles and isnt the greatest by far and then set up a 'unification' fight with paulie.. in a way though even as a big fan im kinda glad it went the way it did, if he fought lesser calibre fighters got some false confidence he could of got really hurt against any top 147'ers (cos he was shot to hell to be fair) but who knows if he built him selp up over a few fights and got himself some rounds in his timing would of been alot better and he could of made a better 'comeback' (hugely unlikely though) shame he didnt take better care of himself cos a triangle of fights between kahn himself and brook would of been huge
for fighters like Hatton, yes he needs to stay tuned up He should give it one more go and do it like he always has.
people forget , hattons never won a fight at 147 imo , i thought luis collazo beat him and had him out on his feet for the last round , his biggest asset was boiling down to that weight and being a massive lww , i believe he was a good fighter , but beat a faded tszyu and got overhyped , and he milked it , but who can blame him , best of luck in the future ricky
I dont believe thats true, Collazo coasted in the fight, you could see pretty much everything Hatton was doing wasn't really bothering him that much but it was preventing him from getting off, Hatton outworked him and put rounds in the bank, the better work was coming from Hatton throughout the fight. Yes he was in the **** in round 12, he put Collazo over in the first, it was a close but clear victory for Hatton IMHO. Then look at what Collaze done with Berto, now there's robbery!!! Mosley may have shut him out but Berto certainly didn't. Hatton did not have the physical dimensions coupled with his style to be a WW absolutely correct, his physical strength at 140 was one of his main weapons I agree completely.
