RICKY HATTON is plotting a £100million ring farewell with two blockbuster British battles. The Mancunian risks his IBO and Ring Magazine light-welterweight titles when he faces the worlds top fighter Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas on May 2. If Hatton, 30, defeats the Filipino he reckons that will set up bank-busting clashes against Juan Manuel Marquez and Floyd Mayweather Jnr the only man to beat him. A hometown fight against Marquez will generate £20m and a Wembley rematch against Mayweather would quadruple that. Hatton said: If I beat Pacquiao Id like to fight Marquez. Then next summer Id love an open-air fight at Wembley Stadium against Floyd Mayweather Jnr. I dont want to be an old man in an armchair with my pipe and slippers still blaming the referee for what happened in the first fight.
But he will get KOed by Pac so this won't happen. Maybe a fight with Campbell or the winner of Bradley/Holt
i really dont see why the fight wouldnt happen even if ricky lost. i mean, if hatton absolutely steam rolls pac im quite sure he'd do the same to jmm, no?
if pacquiao was so unexpectedly quick against de la hoya carrying all that extra weight, i imagine he would gain a step coming down to 140...what answer is hatton going to have for that speed? unless the ref let's him hold and hit all night, i can't see him doing anything but eating flurries while waiting for a golden opportunity that might never come.
In all honesty, Hatton is popular enough in britain, win or lose, he can still get those fights in England and genrate massive paydays
he can fight floyd in wembley but i doubt if people will watch it outside of UK. we all saw what happened in the first fight.
Ricky would give JMM his biggest paycheck. W or L from the Pacman fight, that match up is still bound to materialize.
