The Urango = Abraham comparision is also fair.
Malinaggi = Dirrell, well I guess we'll see what Dirrel does but it holds up at the moment.

 

Where to start with this...

1. Urango isn't better than Abraham, he's awful. I don't rate Abraham either, but nevertheless this is bollocks.

2. Malignaggi is total shite, you're talking bollocks again. He has zero power, and for a 'slick' fighter he sure gets a lot. He has no redeeming features as a fighter, even his right hand is non existent due to injury. To say he's better than Dirrell is laughable, you must have eye problems.

3. Cortez didn't make Hatton run into a left hook.

4. No it wasn't close, Hatton was getting schooled in every round.

 

Think ol' Ricky is getting a bit underrated these days.

He has a very solid ring record, although I don't think he should get too much kudos for being sparked out by Mayweather and Pacquiao. Its his wins that get him respect from me, not his embarrasing losses.

 

Look at what Dirrell-Paulie and AA-Urango have achieved and judge.

Before you do though, forget one set got beaten by Hatton.....;O)

 

As for quality of overall opposition, Hatton is clearly ahead since he's fought two greats and Froch hasn't fought any.

Quality of wins, which is what counts, its not so clear.

Correct, quality of wins.No points for getting banjoed although Froch should get credit for the Kessler showing, that was a genuinely close fight.

 

Come on you can't seriously say Malignaggi is better than Dirrell regardless of what they've done. Even a flawed Dirrell (mentally) is a far more dangerous proposition going into a fight than Malignaggi. This is more a case of acknowledging what your eyes should be telling you than reeling off records.

Dirrell has him covered in speed which is Malignaggi's only real quality. He's a better mover, and has far more speed. He has more variety, as Malignaggi's hand is ****ed. All PM has is a chin, heart and a jab. He's very, very easy to hit and due to his lack of substance he's easy to mow down. Combine lack of offence with a porus defence and it isn't looking good. Hence everyone beating that ass.

 

Whats PM achieved? Same with Urango? Or are we going off "what ifs?"

If the roles were reversed you'd be slagging off Pascal as an opponent because he got beaten by an old man twice!! Or Taylor because he never won another fight, same with AA.

be as critical of Frochs opponents are you are of Hattons and you'll get a decent answer to this question.

Hatton & Froch are similar in some ways.

 

And I got slagged for bad mouthing Valero?!? Urango beat Ndgoujo, who I felt edged Paulie, and Bailey so he wasn't all bad, wide, telegraphed hooks yes but very durable and strong, and went on to do well after Hatton mauled him down the stretch.

Paulie is crap. No power, no defence, not that fast. He's got by on a chin and a bit of flash, a lot of his defences were iffy, one of the most overrated fighters of recent years, but no doubt full of heart and tough. But so, so overrated, because he has no power a lot assume he's a good boxer, I've never seen anything particularly decent from him.

 

I've slagged off Pascal plenty of times He's not immune. I don't like Pascal as a fighter, sitting around throwing bursts and then sleeping for the rest of the round.

Thats not the point. The point is Malignaggi is total and utter shite and I don't see how he can be rated as a good win by anybody. What does he do to threaten a world class fighter? Throw a jab for a few rounds, be fast for a few rounds, and then fade into a one fisted guy with no defence as his speed wears off? He's shocking.

IF we're counting Dirrell as a 'win', which I don't really but for the purposes of the original post, Dirrell is miles better than Malignaggi.

 

Funny thing is Flea, TFFP wasn't slagging Urango off while he was winning ugly. I used to wind him up about Urango being a good win for Hatton and he stayed stum on the subject until Urango lost!!

 

As for Hatton shading the first round against Floyd (arguably) but looking woeful for the rest of it and against Pac, it means little.

It shows us his level, a level below the true best fighters. No shame in that.

Now, the performances Alan Rudkin gave against the likes of Harada and Rose, now that tells us something in a losing performance.

I'll judge Froch completely when his career is over. He's in the middle of a competitive run that could just be that.
