Hatton is so underrated!

 

Just look at the castillo fight!

 

Why was that mate? I feel he could of fought better opposition earlier.

 

I feel Hatton get's overrated quite a lot. If this was a popularity contest he'd win no doubt, but sadly it's not...

He's done well for himself, but that was due to his fanbase more than his Boxing talent, his win over Collazo was questionable, Tsyzu needed a fork sticking in him, plus Dave Parris helped a lot. Castillo was fighting simply for money, nothing else... Urango was being raved about at the time, but people made their opinion's on him just by simply looking at him, if Urango had gone on to dominate when Ricky retired, then that win would of looked good (same with Calzaghe Hopkins), but time proved Urango to be a dud. Malignaggi was overrated to ****, he took a smashing from a weight drained Cotto, which still proves to this day to be Malignaggi's finest fight due to Cotto carrying on doing well at WW. The Lazcano fight was a mess, and whenever he stepped up and fought true, world class, ATG opposition, he was stopped inside the distance.

Had he stayed clear from the drugs and the alcohol? Maybe he would of done better but i doubt it. You can't fault Hatton's career, to the casual Boxing fan he's done wonderful, and to the hardcore Boxing fan he hasn't done too badly, but he does get overrated.

Froch, well he's still active so can't be decided until he's in Hatton's retired position

 

Theres a big difference in between world class and ATG competition.

Hatton beating Castillo was the equivalant of McBride beating Tyson.

 

Hatton didn`t just lose twice........... In his fight with a rusty Mayweather he was schooled and was taking a beating on the inside where Hatton was fancied.

Pac just blew Hatton away in his easiest nights work since turning pro,to be fair a decent club fighter would have given Pac a better test than the hopelessly out of his depth Hatton.

 

as others have said, Cotto showed Malignaggi up. If Cotto wasn't as weight-drained (he moved up to WW right after, IIRC) he'd have beaten Paulie to a pulp.

Cotto had a much better skillset and showed how easy it was to outbox and outsmart Paulie. He is, as TFFP puts it so eloquently, ****.

Hatton's wins in between the Floyd and Manny fights were pretty ****. Froch's current run is much more impressive. But you need to wait until Froch is done.

 

Shut it lad, beaten Cotto? My god, no he would not.


Hatton could never have hung with Mosley, Margarito, etc...jesus i could list 15 guys Hatton could not beat around his weight division and in his division-

 

thankyou.....they creamed the WBU for years....i was there, watching.


Same with Joe Calzaghe, eventually if you beat enough cans, bums, b level fighters you have to step up.....forutnately for Hatton he took on Kosta at the tail end of his carrer and won a tough fight.

Joe Calzaghe spent years being average then took on a hype amercian champion and beat him well.

Then has his best win over kessler, gets dropped by past it hopkins and jones....and now people want to revise history and say he is atg.

Let Joe take on Pascal, Ward, Hopkins again, C. Dawson not 4 world class fighters we want 20.

 

i really don't get all the **** hatton gets,he was a very good champ in a always decent weightclass. there have been a hell of a lot worse champs,here,america and every where else.
he would of beat our current crop of LWelters,including khan

 

He seems to get measured by a different stick to other fighters by some people but there you go........
