Bro.....I'm right there wit you on this. No one is claiming Ricky was some phenom. Rick was a blue collar type of fighter who did far better than anyone probably expected. MOST don't have close a career even remotely close to what Ricky has accomplished and for that Ricky is going to the HALL. And he's one of the best british fighters of all time so that has to say a lot for Hatton's career.

Pretty much agree with this. He done well and achieved alot with the tools he had. The UK support he managed to pick up along the way, made his career a heck of a roller coaster ride.

He may never have achieved that elite level he wanted, but he can be damn proud of his career.

Good post. Before fighting Tszyu no one ever accused him of being boring, protected yes but never boring. He simply didn't fight in the style he used post Tszyu. One reason for it was the higher level of opposition i think he simply felt more secure spoiling on the inside against those guys rather than at distance.Another thing in my opinion was he was nowhere near as fit after fighting Tszyu. On the way up he was fighting 4,5 and 6 times a year there was hardly any time between fights to get out of shape because he was basically always training for fights. After winning the title fighting only 2 and 3 times a year gave him plenty of time to get out of shape and indulge himself with beer and pies, and it must have took one helluva effort to get back in shape,i really think that was one of the major reasons for his demise. He was never an A Level guy though B at best.

    Hatton is/was vastly overrated.

Tszyu was done by the time Ricky fought him.
Malignaggi was the worst version of himself, no doubt.
Urango was a straight forward fighter with power.
Collazo was never anything special at all.

And the rest are domestic level talents at best.

IF a guy like Khan beat Alexander or Bradley, I think he'd **** on Hatton's record already.

Hatton was a B-level fighter and was entertaining to watch.

I wasn't looking for you intentionally. I just remembered a poll thread about this topic and did a search to see what the results were.

Completly disagree. he beat a better malignaggi than khan beat. khan needs more than 1 win to overtake Hatton. Hatton never got floored like khan did against bums. look at the records of the domestic fighters hatton fought, then look at khans. i remember khan not wanting to fight thaxton in his early days. Khan wouldnt beat collazo, urango, tszyu or castillo

Ricky was never the most gifted fighter, but he took on any challenge! there is no disgrace in his two losses. He can be much more proud to have taken on two all time greats and lost than people who just fight easy opponents. Ricky strived to fight and be the best and whilst not everybody needs to like him, surely his heart and desire need to be respected.

    His record is very respectable.

Wins over Castillo, Urango, Paulie, Collazo and Tszyu are pretty good wins.

Even the fights with Warren were always againsed tough guys, he never fought no chinney ****ers who were there to fall over and make him look great.

Anyone with Kostya Tszyu, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao on their resume deserves a pat on the back for effort and balls!

Undefeated in his prime at 140

Underrated fighter, just a pity he didnt go across the pond to fight 3-4 years sooner before his lifestyle between fights caught up with his body.

Gets too much hate, especially from British fans.

Dam, I always wanted a fight between Cotto and Hatton but never came true. **** now is pointless at least Hatton need a few wins to get in shape and full confidence, and of course the fight being at 147.
