The news article on the ESB front page states that Hatton is in his 13th week of training at the moment. With another 3 weeks to go until the fight, that will make it a total of 16 weeks (good math I hear you cry!). I've never heard of a boxer have that long a training camp before a big fight. What are the chances of Ricky overtraining? Is there a danger he could peak too soon? Is this normal for Ricky? Alternatively, is this a good thing so that he can get his weight down early and focus on the more technical aspects of his game? (No wrestling gags please) I get the impression that Hatton is ready to fight now. I don't like the fact that he's got 3 weeks left.
I think its just so that he had the full time to train to fight rather than having half his usual training just to get teh weight off. Seems that Hatton has taken this fight as seriously as he should and had a full month to lose the flab then 12 weeks actual training for the fight
I think he'll be fine mate. I think Ricky and his trainers know now through trial and error how much recoup time he will need to be in top form. Peaking too early not sure I understand...
Peaking too early is more of a mental thing. The fight with Floyd will have been the only thing on Ricky's mind for a while now. There's a danger that training can become boring and he could start to switch off. The way I see Hatton hitting the bags now is intensity but the fight is still 3 weeks and a bit weeks away.
I know what you mean mate and he'll be fine. If I were Ricky when i get up everday and before I go to bed I would watch or listen to PBF talking trash to me..this would definitly keep things in the proper prospective. Cheers:good
The first few weeks mainly consist of losing the fat so I wouldn't read too much into the fact that he will be in 16 week training camp
I watched an interview with him yesterday mate & he actually said he's ready to fight now , He even mentioned his concerns about "overcooking" it. Im sure he'll be right though come the night , He's looking as fit strong & focused as Ive seen him.....
Overtraining is a serious concern for me for Hatton He was 148lbs yesterday according to skysports and that is abnormally low for him with 3 weeks to go...he needs to be very careful on the intensity and he admits this himself in the latest interviews
i dont know but i have heard anything from Floyd or his camp since the dancing witht he stars BS......im telling you.....Floyd is really putting something together.....:hey
3 weeks before is a good time to be doing your most intense work. Intense training 1 week before a fight won't do you much good, you won't feel the effects so soon after the training.
It seems as Hattons had better nutritional regimen this time around and they've gotten him down in good fashion. He looked quite round through the promo tour. I believe they'll have him just right come fight time. Hatton can use these last few weeks conditioning and finding his comfort zone in terms of what he'll come in at.
