I'm sorry, but what were you lot expecting? You all know fine well that Ricky lets himself go.

Besides, he is probably in better shape than half of the armchair critics.

Its not really the amount of weight its that he does it so fast. I mean if he was retired and wanted to get fat like Morales or Duran or whatever then fine but he blows up within 2 months after every fight. He is really ****ing his career over with all that yo yo weight loss/gain bull****.

And I tell you what when he really does retire officially he is going to get ****ing huge. It doesnt make sense that a guy who had an intensive training camp this spring looks like that now in August. Just imagine what he will be like with no more training camps.

Never seen a pro athlete who lets himself go as much as him. Yeah maybe he enjoys afew beers but he could still run it off the next day. Stay in reasonable shape for christs sake.

I once put on 60lbs in two months when I was out of the gym (without even trying).

    Jazzo KO 1 Hatton.

If I tried I could probably get up to 500lbs pretty quick.

You guys are seriously over rating Hatton here.

That's nothing compared to the weight Vargas and Duran used to put on between fights.

Didn't Vargas have to lose something like 7 stone to make weight for the Mayorga fight?

I don't think he'll get much fatter after retiring then how he got in between fights. Him letting himself go, drinking and eating without giving a damn, is some kind of psychological reaction to him having to starve himself and not having fun for weeks and months before fights. Believe me, it requires a lot of self-discipline, and it's horrible. At least it's well paid in Rickys case. So after a fight he feels he has to make up for that, he has to reward himself and just have a good time, just enjoy himself. He's a guy who likes the good life, and it's hard for such a man to restrain himself as much as he has to before fights. James Toney has the same problem. Believe me, after Ricky has retired this vicious circle will be broken and he'll become fat, yes, but not more than what he usually walks around at between fights.
