That's exactly how I saw it. Maybe that's reading too much into it, but that was my first impression on reading the article.

 

Point understood, but not agreed with!

He can come across as being a bit false, with the whole 'is it a bird, is it a plane, no it's Hatton' routine with regard fighting early etc, but I don't think it is done in a particularly devious way.

Let's face it, Hatton isn't exactly an intelligent enough fella to be able to think of making loaded remarks :deal

I think some people will manage to get upset (or feign being upset) no matter what he says. The Klitscho remark is typical, what has that REALLY got to do with Hatton not fighting Witter..?

I think you may be underestimating how manipulative the guy is. I mean, he's not made such vast sums of money from being a p4p fighter or from having a Gatti like style, because he does not fall into either category.
He's done it through selling himself as a man of the people etc. whose best mate is a ******ed kid and the Man City business.

 

Thats where we differ, I just think you are a bit paraniod about the guy, see things that really arn't there and kick off over things that wouldn't cause you to bat an eyelid if it were any other fighter.

 

I think what most people really dislike is the whole celebrity culture in the UK at the moment (I hate it) and see someone 'normal' as almost a totem figure, and are willing to support them because of it.

Maybe that is right, maybe it isn't, but I would certainly rather support a normal person than some arrogant wanker who is up their own arse and obsessed with being in the paper constantly - I will name examples in a few minutes.

I've never met the guy but I know people who know him well. They all say, without exception, that he's a genuine nice guy. Until something happens to prove otherwise, thats good enough for me.
