Ricky says he`ll fight Vladimir Klitschko!!

I suppose with Mayorga at least you know he is a plank, and almost begin to think his rants are humourous (with exception of Forrest obviously), his taunts of Vargas were hilarious.

I only took the fight at 162 because fatty couldn't lose any more weight etc etc

 

I think he has attracted a lot of criticism with his attitude after the Mayweather fight. He did maybe have a valid point about Cortez but he pisses people off going on and on about it instead of letting it go.

 

Criticism is one thing, hate is another. Some people seem to be trawling the media looking for a couple of words out of place in an interview and then feigning outrage and disgust. Some of its just trolling but some is pretty wierd and borderline sociopathic behaviour IMHO.

On the boxing, Cortez reffed the fight poorly but didn't change the outcome IMHO but thats the selling point that Hatton is trying to hang a rematch on. You can't really blame him for that.

 

Gaz, what did think of the handling of Hatton's hometown fights, with the likes of Vann and Parris?

 

The point is that Cortez reffed the two fights completely differently. Which, to be honest, didn't surprise me at all.

 

Look at that I have been away for a couple of months and its still GazOc against the haters. Yes hatton got well beaten of floyd but how cortez can allow hopkins to wrestle against joe all night but break hatton up at every opportunity is beyond me inconsistency at its worse.

 

Why don't you stop peddling innunendo and proclaiming yourself to be so smart and instead tell us why Ricky Hatton represents 'drunken chav louts' and all that is bad with Britain.

Come on you folks, you've been asked directly for evidence of why Hatton is the devil in disguise, let's have it.

I was never a big fan of Hatton but some of these chumps here have made me like the guy even more!

 

I'm the same, I'm not a massive fan other than he's a good, British world class boxer. This place seems to have a way of polarizing me though, I stick up for the guy purely because the gets such a unreasonable amount of **** around here.

I think the amount of hating on here for Hatton (and Calzaghe) is ridiculous.

Perhaps it is our culture - we seem to love losers, and hate winners.

We ought to be more like Australia, who celebrate winners and worship the ground they walk on, and don't tolerate continued poor performance.

 

I've said this before on here, I didn't want to but I was so sick and tired of Scurla, that Scottish feller and a couple of others lies and guesses and complete character assasinations on a person none of them know anything about, I felt I had to.

I know Ricky, he lives down my road, drinks in the same pubs etc etc. I also know his family.

Firstly, this "disabled, fat kid" or "ugly ******" as I have heard him being called by some scum on here, is called James, he's a mate of mine and his backstory is heartbreaking. He was only supposed to have months to live when his mum who looked after James, his two brothers and two sisters (with some help from his nan, us and mostly Rick) suddenly died of pneumonia. Anyway, People talk about James as though he is some mascot Ricky is using to gain people's hearts. The fact is, Rick has looked after James since long before he was famous, he has dedicated his career to him and has done absolutely everything he possible can to make James' life and the lives of his family as happy as possible. James is possible the most beautiful person I have ever met, he literally cannot have a bad thought about anybody (besides wanting to beat up any of Ricks apponents if they hurt him), he loves everyone around him and loves his life, no matter how cruel it has been. He loves Ricky most of all though and you should see how he lights up when he is with him or when he so much as hears his name.
In this, I would bet, Ricky has done more for the benefit of someone else than all of his "haters" put together.

This isn't about James though.

For some reason, you believe his everyman thing is an act, it honestly isn't. You really couldn't meet a more genuine, friendly and kind person. The amount of times I have been walking through Hyde to see him surrounded by people asking for autographs, which he gives happily while having a laugh with them. Generally he walks around un-accousted because he is just a piece of the furnature round here, he isn't a celebraty in any way, just a kid who everyone has seen growing up, he hasn't changed in anyway, so nobody really get's excited about him.

When he isn't near a fight, he is tirelessly arranging stuff for charity or for the sick, that seems to be what all his energy goes into. There is always something he is trying to organise, or someone trying to get him to sign something or make an appearance and 99% of the time he is more than happy to do it. There are a couple of things I know he is doing now which I can't really say, as I don't want to ruin a surprise for the people involved but it is incredibly selfless and shows how much the people around him mean to him.

I appreciate people might get bored hearing the same things being said when he is on TV but really, that is what the directors have latched onto because it is exactly that what the public want to hear.

I could go on for another few paragraphs but I just realised it is not going to make any difference at all to these people, it never did before, I don't really know why you have taken against him so much but it is crazy. There are so many targets out there who deserve your **** and you give it out to someone who honestly couldn't be a better sportsman or role model.

 

IMHO its downright ****ing weird the extent to which some people on here hate Hatton. Theres no other word for it really.....

 

triplesod, fair enough man, I remember you when you were here before around the Mayweather fight. Well, I think I was one who referred to the '******ed kid' and how it was a marketing ploy, and I apologise for that. I'm sure Hatton has been very good to the boy.

Personally, I'm only interested in Hatton's conduct within the context of the sport (and surely I don't need to go in to the many reasons for this again), and he pisses me and many others off immensely. I don't think I have even suggested he's a **** or the devil in disguise or anything like that.
Thinking about it though, if he's taking so many clueless 'fans' for a ride with all this of hyping up low level opponents and other ****, if he's then pumping that money back into charity and helping kids like James then I suppose that's not so bad.
I'll never be a fan of his though, he does my head in.
