    Through his attorny

As for WBC junior welterweight champion Junior Witter, who has been calling Hatton out for years, chances of him being the ‘Hit Man’s’ next opponent seem slim. This is according to Hatton attorney Gareth Williams.

“Ricky will never fight Junior Witter as long as he keeps slagging him off in public,” he told the Daily Mail. “We won’t let Witter make his fortune by piggy-backing on Ricky’s success.”

So let me get this right, regardless of the British contigent that came to the States, Ricky goats Floyd and Floyd answers his bluff and gives him a nice payday in $10mill USD that he could have never made fighting anyone else save for Oscar (which wasn't discussed at the time and still is ridiculous to consider). Yet, his camp is using some BS excuse in not making a fight against a rival who has a legitmate strap..

Ok Hatton'ites, defend your boy on this one..

I'm not a Hattonite and wish Witter would beat Hatton but Witter is always trash talking and dissing Hatton and Hatton is simply laughing his ass off cause Witter brings nothing to the table that Hatton can't bring himself.

Witter hasn't really earned his shot at Hatton. If he wants it so bad then fight to get it, instead of talking about it all day.

Witter needs Hatton, Hatton doesn't need Witter, but Witter is the number 2 man.

Hatton will duck Witter as long as he can until he gets backlash from fans and media. Witter has what it takes to beat Hatton and I believe that even more after he knocked Vivian Harris out with that left hook. If Hatton fights either Witter or Malganaggi he will lose

What has Mayweathers decision to fight Hatton got to do with Hatton fighting Witter? To play Devils Advocate you're saying Mayweather ducks legit Welters in order to fight Hatton at 147 so Hatton has to fight a unification fight at 140? I can't see the connection.

Legitmate welters, like who??? Cotto's NOT a legitate welter and that fight will happen. For the love of god pleae dont' say Margarito who brought nothign to the table but a BS trinket (the WBO belt) and surely if Floyd would have signed that deal, his former promoter ARUM would have wanted options on him. This is just after he paid to get away from him but thats never brought up. Besides, Margarito has already been exposed.

That said, if Hatton fights some dude like a GAVIN Reece or whatever his name is, it'll be clear he's avoiding Witter. But I think that from the beginning. What does Witter have to kiss his ass to fight him??

Hatton didn't do that to Floyd (and paid for it thank god), so why should he have to acquiesce to Hatton??

Cotto, Williams and maybe Cintron before his last poor showing spring to mind. I'm not saying he's ducking these guys, I'm saying I don't see the connection you made that Mayweather agreed to fight Hatton so Hatton should fight Witter....???

I'd like to see a Hatton-Witter fight but Hatton seems happy leaving the aging Witter earning buttons until he retires.

neener neener nanna poo poo. that's what boxing gossip sounds like to me. i just watch the fights that get put on and don't sweat the inevitable political machinations that bore me and are not why i follow the sport. there's a lot of things i wish were done differently and a lot of gross injustices, but picking out every single one, in this sport - would be a full time job employing thousands. whining never made a fight that wasn't likely to materialize for one reason or another, materialize.

those of you who are christians should be familiar with the concept of "serenity to accept the things you cannot change, courage to change the things you can and the Wisdom to know the difference." it's a nifty little idea that holds merit for everybody, even non-lunatics (ie those without religion) too! :p

oh and before someone gets mad thinking that this is some kind of covert pro-hatton post simply because it's critical of the thread's pathos, keep in mind that i am documented on this board stating long before his recent loss that it was a foregone conclusion and in actuality was the second of his career, and that he could stand to lose to both witter and malignaggi. this is no hatton hugger you're confronted with. just a snarky, ponderous fly on the wall with a little painkiller in his blood.

Hatton goaded Mayweather into a fight that honestly wasn't even being considered. You, "those 4 rounds were more exciting than Mayweathers career" crap he mentioned after beating Castillo. Well in this situation, Witter is calling out Hatton and thats much more legimate considering their the same weight class and have a history of words..

Btw, Floyd's been fighting at welterweight since 2005 and Cotton recently enter the welter division less than a year ago. So I'd think Floyd being the linear champion has much more claim on being a legitmate welter than Cotto..

There are definitely more dollars in a fight with Witter than a GAVIN Reece..

Why would Ricky want to fight Witter? His popularity is such that at this point he would only be wise to fight big names, Cotto, DLH, maybe even Malinaggi here in the states. But Witter? He doesn't currently bring anything to the table...

Hatton won't be fighting Rees, even Reeses manager (Calzaghes dad, Enzo) doesn't want the fight. Hatton has the luxury of earning well if he fights a number of opponents, Witter can only earn well if he fights Hatton....and Hatton seems content to let him stew.

It suited Mayweather to respond to Hatton calling him out, it doesn't set a precident on what Hatton should do in a similar situation. Does mayweather (or any boxer) fight every guy that calls him out? Bottom line is Hatton has plenty of options, Witter doesn't.

If he doesn't unify . . . then he can kiss his P4P ranking aspirations good bye. Fighting De La Hoya . . . won't help him . . . it's just money.

hatton will most certainly not fight gavin rees in the nea future, its all risk no reward, what he is imo going to do is continue to build his career in america drawing in 20k crowds and huge ppv numbers each time he fights until he wants a huge unification fight at lww or a superfight against a top ww or a lightweight like diaz or casamayor.who has witter fought who is a genuine top contender at lww,yes harris was a tough opponent but not touching elite, while corley was well past it!let witter fight torres or malignaggi first and if he wins his careers boosted in america aswell as showing that he is a genuine no.1 contender who can also generate revenue!

if the witter fight happens,i reckon a midway ko for hatton

This kinda reminds me of the Carl Froch / Joe Calzaghe situation. Froch just wants a massive payday and the chance of being catapulted into the limelight, when in reality he probably doesn't deserve it. I feel the same about Witter.
