It's funny when a newbie calls out an ESB veteran with as hours watching old school tapes as you...haha Are the Hatton fans becoming as ignorant as the Pac fans? Maybe so. I just miss the days when everyone was a boxing fan.
No, i definatly saw tape of Ray Robinson when you were in diapers and i was in the golden gloves...cute post though :good
okay, have you seen Ray Robinson's left hook? It was a thing of beauty. It wasn't hug, hold, reach around and aim of the liver. It came from his toes...up to his waist, then rotated across the body from this shoulders and turned over on the fist. Ricky Hatton has more of a lateral dip and then thrown over the hip.
While the post in the main is crazy he is right in one sense that fighters used to grapple, hit and hold, drive fighters back with their shoulders and chest a lot more than they do now and Sugar Ray Robinson is no exception . Robinson is nothing like either fighter in this fight , or maybe everything like them if you were to combine the two . I personally don't think there is anything wrong with some of what was allowed in Robinson or even Ali's day(who himself used to hold a hit a hell of a lot) once the fighter is working and not just clinching . I don't like holding behind the head while devlivering uppercuts(such as Lewis v Grant) but I see nothing wrong with using superiro strenght to drive fighters back to the ropes with your gloves before letting off some shots . Unfortunately nowdays referees are far too quick to break fighters , especially in America .
All he's said is watch the video. I'm really looking forward to his analysis that makes no sense, and his defense which holds no ground. :rofl
Sugar Ray doesn't deserve to mentioned in the same sentance as Ricky Hatton No wonder they are all laughing at you
Just as an obvious base of comparison, SRR and PBF are both sytlists. They share in comon the: use of footwork, range, jab, and speed advantage. Robinson had better power, Floyd the better defense. They dont fight exactly alike, but share similar attributes. I think Floyd compares himself to SRR based more on the way he percieves his legacy than the way he percieves their respective styles.
