Potential crossover-superfight between GLORY Heavyweight champion Rico Verhoeven and BKFC Heavyweight champion Mick Terrill in the works

According to reliable sources, talks are underway for a crossover superfight between GLORY Heavyweight champion Rico Verhoeven and BKFC Heavyweight champion Mick Terrill.

Mick Terrill defended his BKFC Heavyweight title in April against former champion Lorenzo Hunt and was slated to defend his title again later this year against UFC veteran Ben Rothwell.
However, this fight has been postponed, prompting the Bare-Knuckle Boxing champion Terrill to seek an earlier return to action.
This has led to discussions about a superfight against GLORY Kickboxing Champion Rico Verhoeven.

Rico last stepped into the ring in March, when he won the prestigious GLORY 8-man Heavyweight Grand Prix by defeating three opponents in one night.
‘The King of Kickboxing’ has been the GLORY Heavyweight Champion for over ten years and has also fought under MMA and Boxing rules in the past.
Recently, he expressed strong interest in participating in crossover-superfights against champions and stars from other combat sports disciplines, such as Francis Ngannou and Tyson Fury.
His new contract with GLORY allows him to pursue these fights, and the organization is open to co-promotion. This could be a promising start to that endeavor.

Mick Terrill began his combat sports career in kickboxing and Muay Thai. He competed in the SUPERKOMBAT World Grand Prix III in 2014 and has since built a formidable reputation in bare-knuckle boxing, holding heavyweight titles with BKB and BKFC and boasting an impressive record of 10-1 (9 KO/TKO).

The negotiations are reportedly still in the early stages, so the exact rules for this fight, such as glove size, number of rounds, and location, are currently unknown.
However, it has been reported that it will be a Kickboxing match.

Maurits School from the Dutch combat sports outlet MainEventNL reached out to GLORY for confirmation, and they responded with: "No comment".

    Stay tuned!

BKFC is entertaining but the talent pool is a joke and most likely always will be. Its a last resort sport for washouts and bums. Never heard of this Terrill guy but looked him up and its a 41 year old who seems to have started combat sports in his 30s and has been KO'd not all that long ago by someone with a 7-10 record in MMA.

In other words Rico is going to stop this guy in the first round.

If it’s going to be a Bare-Knuckle fight things might get a bit more interesting. I’m curious to see see how Rico would handle the dirty inside Boxing.
He’ll probably win by Knockout regardless though.

I think the styles here work in favor of Rico. He has a mean left hook and Mick has never held a mobile phone to his ear.

For those who dont know about kickboxing, Rico is pretty damn cool tbh. He hasnt lost in almost a decade while fighting against top competition constantly. Earlier this year he won a tournament fighting 3x in one night and I think 2 of his 3 opponents were top 10 ranked. Guy is 35 now but still it seems nobody can stop him.

Rico should win this easily. It would have been cool to see Rico in the glory days of heavyweight KB against the likes of Hoost, Aerts, Semmy...I don't follow too closely so I could be wrong but it doesn't seem the talent pool is as deep anymore.

He did actually fight Aerts and Semmy albeit in the early years of Glory when they were old. He beat Aerts but lost to Semmy in a tournament that was actually Semmys last night before he retired (he won the whole thing, guy was a beast right to the end)

The talent pool is definitely weaker now. Theres some decent guys other than Rico around like Rigters but all in all its not on the level of 90s/00s K1.

Would have loved to have seen that fight between Rico and Alistair Overeem a few years back. Too bad it never came off.

I've thought it'd be great if BKFC developed fighters who started emulating the lost tactics that the OG bare knuckle fighters of the pre-, Queensbury era used.

More emphasis on body shots, palm strikes here and there. Right now the roster is almost all washed out MMA fighters, who swing haymakers right at their opponents skull as soon as the first bell rings. It can make for an entertaining watch but none of these guys will have long/developed careers as they mess up their hands so bad using those tactics.

Fighting like actual bare knuckle fighters did and not just bare fisted MMA fighters would prolong their careers and yes, be interesting to see.

It would have been a pretty easy win for Rico at that point imho. Reem was totally washed up, its just Badr was in an even worse state.

Rico vs 2010 Horsemeat Ubereem would have been something though.

The poor talent level is the biggest hurdle for me enjoying it, even though its very action packed. It just feels kind of redundant as a sport when you know that boxers, kickboxers and MMA fighters in triple figures could walk into it with next to no training and immediately kick ass. Its not like boxing/MMA/kickboxing where they're all different enough from each other that the best guys in their field really are the best guys and they all have to respect each other.

It sucked when Overeem pulled out injured, but thankfully we got this absolute classic against Jamal Ben Saddik instead:
