Tyson peaked early, and went to prison.

Ali was banned from boxing because he refused to serve in Vietnam.

Bowe was past it before 30 because of poor defense and just being lazy.

    The situations aren't comparable.

Tyson decline began in 1989 when he faced Bruno for the first time. He didn't enter prison till 1992.

Are you saying Ali was over the hill at an early age cos he had 3 and a half years off? :patsch

    Go away please.

3 and a half years is a long time to be away from the ring.

Also, Ali's style relied on his speed and reflexes.

Did he get battered every round by Douglas before or after he went to prison?

So fights where he was taken to the brink of death had nothing at all to do with it?

I was talking about Ali. He was away from the ring for 3 1/2 years. He lost a good chunk of his prime.

Bowe is a tool and always has been. Even now he can't admit it. He didn't want to fight him because he didn't want to lose. Period. Rock Newman probably had as much to do with it, but Bowe chickened out period.

I admit, he got screwed by a bad stoppage at the Olympics, but he never made the effort to redeem himself. Bowe never fought a top contender in their prime except for Holyfield, and Holyfield was not a puncher. Bowe never fought Foreman or Tyson either, see a pattern emerging there? He avoided big punchers his whole career.

I didn't even mention Lewis or his career? You talk some real garbage.
Bottom line Bowe had poor defense he slugged it out too much. By 29 he had slurred speech and was done as any type of contender. Ali, and Tyson both lasted years longer than Bowe against top opposition. Sure they declined but they weren't forced into retirement.

I think Lewis would have stopped Bowe.

Do you look at irrefutable evidence and pretend it doesn't exist ?

Did Bowe agree to fight Lewis after he got past MaCall?

And Tyson is on video saying he wouldn't fight Bowe.

Pretty fair assessment. Golota really exposed Bowe badly.

Its annoying many American fans still won't give Lennox Lewis his due, and I'm American. Clearly was the best of his era. They make a big thing about the loss to McCall and for a long time I thought it exposed him too. But I honestly think it may have been a premature stoppage anyway, and no question he avenged the loss convincingly, he had the guy crying.

Rahman may have been the only man to legitimately beat him, and that was one lucky shot when Lewis was clowning around. Lewis didn't retire unbeaten because he didn't have a perfect chin and got overconfident a couple of fights. But no question he was an ATG, and had the superior career to Bowe.

Lewis is lucky he lost to MaCall and got to pass the loss off as a learning experience , because Bowe at that time would have gave Lewis a terrible drubbing and tainted his legacy forever.

The difference between Lewis and Bowe was night and day and Lewis and his camp knew it.

Bowe's resume for the 90's is bad.

Let's see he missed out on: Lewis, Tyson, Foreman, Ruddock, McCall, Morrison, Mercer, Moorer, Bruno, Tucker, Holmes.

Even if you like Bowe it's hard to defend not fighting at least some of those guys. And that's not listing the late 90's fighters because Bowe was shot after Golota. Guys like Ibeabuchi, Tua etc

Bowe was busy with buster Mathis jr, and Louis Gonzalez, Dokes and Ferguson.

I will say this in the early 90s I would of picked Bowe to win over Lewis to me he looked better than Lewis before Lewis improved. However the difference is Lewis went out and fought top contenders and therefore had the superior career. By a country mile.
