Bowe deserves to be in IMO! Took two out of three against Holyfield. Fought close with him in their second fight, though he lost!
bowe refused to fight his nemesis in lennox lewis which hurts his legacy in a similar way to mayweather. defenses against washed up dokes and fergusson were a joke, then, with every possible physical advantage he gets dropped and outpointed by the comparatively tiny holyfield. smashed to pieces by golota though won both because galota is crazy. hard to make a case for the HOF
Look how Holyfield sent Douglas out of the ring on a gurney in 3 rounds, then go look at him against Bowe. Case closed. AndLewis didn't want to go after Bowe's other titles and hid behind the WBC.
Thats attempted murder you're accusing him of. You are in no position to make such a claim. Were you in the car? If this is what happened he wouldn't have done just a bit of jail time. Ike went down for over ten years for what you claim Bowe had done. Fact is the case was acquitted because none of the defence bothered to show up , which proves the situation was blown out of proportion.
Hamed does deserve to be HOF bound. Multiple world champion, number 1 in his division. I always thought he'd lose to Barrera and Morales, still do but he was a modern great. Although I wasn't a fan as such if McGuigan can get in Hamed should be a cake walk.
My votes 1. Dariusz Michalczewski 2. Ray Mancini 3. Naseem Hamed 4. Genaro Hernandez 5. Chris Eubank Probably the only one for sure is my number one choice.
I've made my feelings on Bowe's induction clear on another thread. In short because lesser fighters are in the IBHOF I can't complain too much. However, I feel for the era he fought in, his competition was extremely soft. I feel his won loss record is deceiving ( I felt Tubbs edged him, he should of been Dq'd against Mathis, and Golota beat the stuffing out of him) and I feel outside the ring during his career was shameful and after it was dangerous and erratic. Not a good ambassador of the sport.
Bowe has been ranked anywheres from # 21 to #25 among all time Heavies. I'm not sure he ranks up there but he definitely is on the cusp among the best of the modern era. Very glad to see him in the HOF.
I was happy to see Bowe get inducted. One of my favorite heavyweights to watch especially in his prime. Can't down play his epic wars with Holyfield, in the first fight he put a whooping on one of the very best heavyweights of all time in one of the best heavyweights fights of all time, I consider Bowe great just on that fight alone....
Word good for him, he deserves it. Bowe helped make the 90s exciting in the HW scene, and would spark anybody out there now and beat a lot of great heavies. When he wanted it, he brought it.
This might help you with your memory. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcLqEh_4v3I He went down. Leaned on his left arm, lay on his back eyes open, wiping his face and looking at his glove, and whilst Ferdie Pacheco was interviewing Holy, Douglas was being filmed WALKING back to his dressing room.
dont get me wrong im a Hamed fan and believe he more than deserves HoF, its just rare to see him get genuine praise.
