Bowes style is certainly more aesthetically pleasing, but shouldn't he have had better use of his reach advantage against Holyfield?

The difference is that Lewis fought a Who's Who of 90's and 00's heavyweights. After Holyfield, Bowe's resume gets thin awful quick. Lewis is just more provenÂ… and didn't revert to a waste paper basket when offered a chance to unify.

I agree Bowe would be there for Baer to do his thing, as you said Bowe fought fire with fire. This for sure would be a firefight both men would have there moments. I just truely believe Bowe was the better fighter. They matchup quite well as both are big guys so Bowe wouldn't necessarily have any physical advantages but in terms of offensive firepower to me again Bowe is the superior fighter. Both men take a great shot so the deal breaker for me is Bowe putting out more fierce of an offensive attack and grinding Baer out.

Yeah I'm guessing you and I did grow up around the same time. Following boxing was different back then. Having to wait for boxing magazines each month to know who won non televised non main stream contests. I remember seeing names in the rankings and guys in the win columns that you'd never seen or heard even a word uttered anywhere about. Now every fighter is a simple google search away from pictures and often videos of them.

    very good matchup

in reality - whoever trains harder wins

bowe and baer both at 100%, bowe 8-7, got no real argument for guys picking baer, unless they say he does it easy.

Rid**** Bowe would have no problem with Max Baer, Rid**** Bowe at the time he whooped Larry Donald (which wasn't his prime) would have whooped a prime Max Baer if you ask me.

Max Baer was pretty durable most of his career and Bowe is one of only 3 Lineal HW Champs never to be stopped, Tunney and Marciano are the others.

Only Holyfield (once in 3 fights) and Golota (three times in 2 fights) were able to drop Bowe, but he was able to drop them as well... Holyfield, 3 times in their 3 fights. Golota, once in their two fights.

Only Joe Louis and Lou Nova (twice) were able to stop Baer. Baer was pretty well past his prime when he fought Nova.

A prime Bowe was 6'5" with an 81" reach and 235-240 Lbs. He had a good jab and power in both hands. He was a good boxer with good hand speed and movement especially for a man of his size.

A prime Baer was 6'2 1/2" with an 81" reach. The most he ever weighed for a fight was 226 Lbs. and he was a bit overweight. He carried almost 220 Lbs. quite well though. He had a big upper body. He fought tall and appeared to be even taller because he stood up straight most of the time.

I think Bowe would outboxes him but at some point it turns into a slugfest. Bowe could do either and he would win the fight.

Rid**** Bowe by clear decision or late round KO.
