Bowe's the bigger man with the better handspeed. Liston is the harder puncher and Bowe was there to be hit. This would probably be a great fight.

Exactly! Liston being always the big guy, just wouldn't have that.. Bowe at least fought Golota...he was also 240 pounds and 6'4,very well schooled and a good jab himself, great chin when he was focused.....Liston simply stylistically would not move back or know how to fight without lunging forward,he would get counter rights hands over the top and he would be belted out within mid rounds if I had to guess.

Holyfield only beat Bowe once..Bowe beat him twice. Liston is not a fast counter puncher, and wouldn't have Holyfields chin, the difference is the chances of Liston defeating a bigger man with actual talent is a long shot....with holyfield he may rock him and finish him, though I don't see that either.

Liston by brutal kayo in 10 rounds or less. He beats Holyfield, too.

Sonny may be incouraged by the fact that Bowe got hit a lot and if he had success landing the jab the other punches would follow. Bowe would be the biggest man Sonny faced by far but Sonny would be able to find him.....Could go either way

So explain how the 5' 8" ,, 72" reach Mayweather, not only beat, but knocked out the 5' 11",, 70" reach hard punching Corrales then.

At the time Corrales had stopped 27 of 33 opponents.

    Bowe.

6'5", 235-240 solid Lbs., 81" reach, good speed, good movement, good skill, good power, good chin, and more. Sure, Liston may have had an 84" reach but he was 4 1/2" shorter than Bowe. When you have to punch up, it shortens the distance and it takes a little something off of the punches. Liston could punch but Bowe was durable, he is 1 of only 3 Lineal HW Champs who were never stopped... Marciano and Tunney are the others.

It would be a good fight despite the fact that Liston never fought a big and talented HW like Bowe. Bowe fought Holyfield 3 times but other than Holyfield he didn't see too many guys on Liston's level... none actually.

Because that's my opinion. It's as valid as anyone else's, because the fight will never happen and nobody really knows. I think Liston was very good technically, better than he is credited for. He had a great, long jab. He had a great left hook. He was a great body puncher. He was a great finisher.

I think he was a better fighter than Bowe, and would beat him up. If Golota can kick the **** out of Bowe, why can't Liston?

liston had good head movement and was indeed a better boxer than he's been credited for being on here
As for the weight advantage Bowe has, most of liston weight was above the waist.
    He wouldn't get pushed about
    Liston wins

Would be a great fight, but ultimately I see Liston wearing Bowe down, and possibly getting a TKO. Bowe's leaky defense would really hurt him against Liston, and if he tries to brawl with Sonny, he's going to get the worst of the exchanges.

I think Liston would put a fairly horrifying beating on him.
