I can't take Bowe over Sonny Liston, Bowe would be there for Sonny the way he was for Evander and Sonny hits way harder then Holyfield. Did Bowe box and move enough to avoid Listons bombs? I don't think so.
Bowe had a much higher work rate and it wasn't like Liston was a heavyweight Toney when it came to defense. And Liston didn't have Holyfield's work rate and hand speed to set a high pace. If Liston did, I'd pick him. This is one that I don't know about. Plus, you do have to factor in Bowe's size advantage of 6'5 235 pounds vs 6'1 212 lbs, although Liston was very powerfully built and likely matched or even exceeded Bowe in strength. I don't know.
