I may have posted this already I'm not sure but how would you rate Bowe's power? Holyfield said He hit harder than Lewis but I think he's just being generous because he has a victory over him. Let's discuss
Holyfield probably does believe that. Bowe had him seriously hurt on multiple occasions and scored a few knockdowns against Holy as well. Lewis never had him in that type of trouble, and Lewis didn't land as flush as often as Bowe did on Evander. But ask someone like Andrew Golota, and he might disagree. :smoke
I personally think Bowe hit harder than McCall, for example Their common opponents Lionel Butler - Bowe KO2, McCall W10 Jesse Ferguson - Bowe KO2,McCall W10 Bruce Seldon - BoweKO1, McCall KO9
I think Bowe had respectable power, but punch for punch, it was not on the level of Lewis or Tyson. What Bowe did do was hit Holyfield more consistently than either Lewis or Tyson. Plus Lewis never really unloaded on Holyfield, he bided his time and just outboxed him.
A shot Bowe still had him down and in trouble a few times during their second bout, which goes to show that there may be truth in the saying that the last thing a fighter loses is his punch. Slightly off-topic but can anyone explain how in the second Golota fight, Bowe weighed the same more or less as he did in the first Holyfield fight, yet he looked as skinny as hell both in the face and torso and had those skinny chicken legs?
Id say it was Tyson, he did it with one punch, whereas Lewis took a few accurate shots and Bowe was all over the place. Also, didnt Tyson nearly kill Golota with that punch?
You would say Tyson now wouldn't you, it was a flash knockdown and he got up in an instant, Lewis finished the job there and then.
Yeah, Tyson did drop him with one punch, but Golota rose quickly and avoided getting hit with that shot the next round. The shame of that is that Golota weathered the storm. The most difficult parts of that fight for him, where he was going to be most vulnerable, was during the first 2 rounds. It's difficult to say how badly Golota was hurt in that match, but if he had some heart, he probably would have started doing better if he hung in there. Tyson tended to slow after a few rounds at that stage. But Golota's jab had already been shot following his accident after the Grant fight.
