Big Daddy was a fighter many thought would be hard to beat after his sensational win against Holyfield in late-1992. Tyson was incarcerated and the buzz was what if Bowe stays undefeated and eventually takes on the comebacking 'Iron Mike' it would undoubtably be the biggest mega-fight in boxing history. Both hailed from the same part of Brooklyn and both had crowd pleasing styles. It, of course, never came to pass.

Witherspoon, like Bowe, had elite talent, size, boxing skills and a huge punch. He gave Holmes a huge scare in 1983 and was probably in his prime from 1984-87.

    Who takes it guys?

Thanks Bigcat. I met Spoon' in the summer of 1988 at an Italian restaurant in Ventnor, N.J. He was enjoying a big bowl of spaghetti with olive oil, brocoli and garlic. He had a fight in Atlantic City that night which is right next to Ventnor on the jersey shore. Nice guy! He posed for pics and was joking around with the customers and some employees. I think Tim had elite type talent and used was an elite level fighter for a much longer period of time than Bowe. The Witherspoon who easily beat Bonecrusher, gave Holmes a scare, and outboxed Tubbs could beat Bowe IMO. Both were inconsistent though so anything could happen. Nothing would surprise me with these two guys. Spoon' was not himself when Bonecrusher 'crushed' him in one round back in 1985 or so. He came back in 86' and overpowered Frank Bruno after losing the early rounds to the muscular englishman.

Oh, sorry my bad. Spoon had easily beat Bonecrusher the first time and came in that second fight ill prepared as I recall. He had so much talent.

I'm partial to Bowe and I think the best versions of each other Bowe wins. He was quicker than Spoon and a better infighter. I don't think Spoon could keep it at distance.

Bowe decision. His inside game makes the difference.

Tims defence takes Bowes jab and right out of play as Norton's did to Ali. Tim on pts, close, Bowe does some good work in close, both may get rocked but neither down or seriusly hurt.

I think Tim's great defence when he wanted with his power and boxing smarts will take him to a pts or KO win over Riddick. When he was right, he had it all.

Spoon was the overall better long-term fighter... But Bowe was better for a quick two years (1991-1992)...

'92 Bowe at 235 pounds decisions '84 Spoon of 221 pounds... A good match-up, but Bowe wins...

However, the '86 Spoon who was 227 pounds and beating Tubbs on HBO for the WBA title beats the 1996 Bowe who was being rocked and rolled by Golota...

1992 Bowe wins by a couple of points IMO.
