Riddick Bowe and the garbage incident

And I mean if we are going to say you must beat the Champ in the ring to be the champ, lets just look at this garbage incident for a moment.

How can Lennox be a 3 time Heavyweight Champion when he did not have to fight for the WBC title it was given to him.... so is he really a legit 3 time world champ?:think

 

Bowe was a freaking idiot. One of the dumbest HW boxers ever. Inside the ring he had little ring IQ, outside the ring same thing.

 

Thats right ,Anyone else does that they were considered paper champs ..

 

To put it simply, Bowe was scurred of Lennox Lewis.

 

Your an idiot,your one of those fans who just makes up stuff,Lewis didnt duck Byrd,Byrd was a light punching heavyweight who fans had no interest in Lewis fighting,and i dont know any fans who wanted to see Lewis vs Ruiz,while HBO and the boxing world wanted to see Lewis vs Bowe,Bowe ducked the fight,cant blame him,lewis beat him up in the Olympics..

 

I feel sorry for Bowe, I hope something good happens to him. :-(

 

Why would anyone feel sorry for a guy that had the opportunities Bowe had?

 

But came out worse in the end? (Wife left him, Money lost, Can't talk properly etc) people remember him for the Holyfield trilogy but see him as a failed champion.

 

Actually, he is extremely intelligent.

He and his brother acted as both manager and promoter of Bowe while controlling the title and cut out most all of the 'usual suspects' and kept more than The Lion's share of the profits.

 

True, but in the end look at what he is now remembered for, Holyfield trilogy, Golota trilogy and a Kid Named Riddick Bowe Jr that isnt even his own son :-(

 

When Bowe drooped the WBC belt in the trash he was also throwing his heavyweight greatness. Bowe from 1992-1996 was a better boxer than Lewis. Don't put too much stock in to their Olympic bout. Bowe was a more devloped pro boxer than. In that time frame Bowe would have beaten Lewis.

 

i'm no lewis fan. i'm not a bowe fan. i liked when both of them were up and coming smashing people. but facts are facts. i am american and bowe disgraced himself by not only ducking Lewis, he did it when he was in a tournament and they were both signed to be matched in the final. it would be equivalent to the recent super 6 tourney had ward or froch just decided they "changed their mind". ***** move by bowe and embarrassing...

 

bowe's sister died the week he fought lewis in the amateurs.

in all fairness....bowe just went to war with holyfield and they wanted him to fight lewis next. he should have been given an optional defense so he could have the time to recover from the grueling match. those fights took something out of bowe. lewis would have had an advantage.

say what u will about bowe/lewis never happening....

bowe beat holyfield in much more convincing fashion when holyfield was still a beast.

also...lewis vacated two titles to avoid fighting byrd and ruiz.

 

that wasn't a tournament.

 

um yes it was
