Every time Lewis made eye contact Bowe quickly averted his gaze, even when he was trying to look tough mean mugging. The fear has always been with him since Lewis stormed the USA team training facility in Seoul and told Bowe to his face he was going to knock him out, them making good on that promise.

Yeah, it was all psychological imo from the ams..Bowe was skilled enough to get in with anyone ever imo but he never fancied Lewis !

I feel sorry for Bowe but he is a punk ass ***** to pretend that he wants to fight now after throwing a belt in the trash. He wanted, wants, and will want no part whatsoever of the man who was his big daddy in the Olympics.

In the late 90`s Lewis really found his stride under Steward and Bowe would have been too heavy in the condition he was in during his 2nd bout vs Holy to beat a prime Lewis.

True last interview I saw with him I honestly could barely make out a word he was saying. Whatever he's been doing to improve his speech is working. Maybe he's been seeing a neurologist or a speech therapist. Whatever it is I'm glad because he sounded awful before.

It was Newman in the same way that it`s Hearn with AJ and King with Tyson, once you have the heavyweight title you are the main promoter in the world and promoters don`t want their meal ticket to lose, Finkel is probably just as bad also.

I feel bad for Bowe, at the end of the day he showed incredible bravery in those Golota fights, if he quit I'd feel differently but you saw the real man in those fights. He always gets the full blame for not fighting Lewis but I think there is more to it than that. I think Bowe should be more respected these days, its a shame for him he doesn't seem to get that and is seen as a bit of a joke by many, he brought a lot of it on himself but its a pretty tragic story. He got a lot of respect in that interview which was nice to see.

The WBC and Lewis were dictating terms to Bowe and rejecting fair and honest offers.
Lewis was offered 3 million to fight Bowe for the chance to become the HW champion , the exact same pay as Bowe got when he challenged Holyfield. .
Lewis refused and chose to wait untill Bowe was stripped so he could pick the belt out of the bin and defend it against Tucker who came out of rehab instead of a training camp.

When Bowe fought Holyfield as mandatory challenger , he earned $3m - which was his entitled 25% cut of the purse.

Lewis and Maloney refused that exact same offer /purse split as a mandatory challenger like Bowe was. The age old 'pricing yourself out' tactic.

When the Tucker fight was signed , Lewis and his team were kicking up a fuss and refusing to share a 75 -25 split , claiming that newly crowned paper champ Lewis was entitled to 80% under the WBC rules.

    https://news.google.com/newspapers?...AIBAJ&sjid=1gcEAAAAIBAJ&pg=3650,5691317&hl=en

Bowe and Newman weren't trying to force the 80% split on Lewis , they gave him exactly whet they got and Lewis still turned it down.

He was guaranteed 25% to fight for the undisputed HW Championship and turned it down.

Bowe didn't turned it down vs Holyfield. Why did Lewis?

Look at that news link and see what Lewis made against Tucker.. Don King told him he could make that money behind the scenes as soon as they got Bowe stripped.

What incentive would Lewis have to take a loss against Bowe for 3M when he could pick up a belt in a easy fight for almost 10M??

Most people don't know anything about this situation apart from what they read on wiki.

For a very short period on his night I would put him in with anyone ever and not bet against him, he just seemed reluctant to get in with Lewis whether it was Neuman's doing or not. Bowe had everything bar discipline, which I suppose is a massive part of it. He was a good man Bowe from what I remember, always kidding around, just didn't take it seriously enough !
