Riddick Bowe - How good could he have been?

I don't think he was skilled at jabbing at all. He was always losing the battle of the jabs with the smaller Holyfield, lost it badly to the equally sized Golota and his jab was completely ineffective against Tubbs.

He had a decent jab, but it was never a fight winner or even a fight changer. Part of that was maybe because he liked to mix it up, but i was never really impressed by his jab.

 

Bowe was a man who had trouble focusing in and out of the ring. What he really needed was good manager. Instead, Bowe had Rock Neuman.

If Bowe had someone more seasoned as a boxing manager, and less intersted in charades outside of the ring, I do think he would have kept his focus longer than he did.

 

Ok lets compare Bowe to Tyson

Tyson UNIFIED every legit title in his era in the Ring
Bowe broke up the titles


Tyson pretty much cleaned out every legit HW was around in the 80s Duoglas was the only one left (Holy at that time was not a legit hw threat)
There are at least 3 guys Bowe should have fought during his reign .

Tyson ducked nobody during his first reign you wanted a fight he gave you one.
Bowe CLEARLY ducked Lewis.

Bowe did beat holy for which he deserves credit.

He also twice got the crap beaten out of him by Golota every elite HW Golota faced put him in his place (Tyson,Lewis) Only one elite received two beatings only to be saved by Golota's own stupidity.

I give Bowe a lower top 15 ranking.
