You could add up all of their IQs and get to about 150.

A high IQ isn't as valuable as dedication to a craft tho

It wasn't an insult or disrespect, it was a genuine question.
It's an important question too. Sorry, but I can't always stomach listening to brain damaged boxers who still mumble about making comebacks, etc.

Your alternative is to bury our heads, GLORIFY their warrior acheivements, and ignore the elephant in the room ?

I'm often the FIRST person on this forum to defend Riddick Bowe against the accusations that he was a "coward" because I distinctly remember how much heart he showed in the ring, heart beyond the call of the duty.
But it's hard to wax nostalgic while straining to distinguish the slurred words. There's nothing glorious about a young man losing his ability to speak clearly because of some stupid sport.

Having watched the video, it's nice to see Byrd, Brewster and Mercer are wholly intelligible.
Let's face it, Bowe is badly damaged. It's impossible to make out much of what he's trying to say.
Toney didn't say much, but what he did say was okay. But we know from other videos, and more recent ones, he's pretty badly damaged himself.

Interesting comments from Chris Byrd in this video, following on from Bowe's choice of Hide as the hardest puncher he faced. He's underlining the fact that sometimes the biggest punchers don't always have the reputations.
Unlike many on this forum, I tend to take the opinions of the actual fighters in these matters as very valuable. It makes me laugh that people so easily dismiss what fighters say in regard to who hits hardes etc.
Of course, fighters will contradict themselves and contradict other fighters too, but still it's worth listening to.

It's just out of the blue, to only comment on their health conditions from their fights as boxers, in a cheeky way. You could've said 1000 other things more pertinent to the content, but you chose to degrade them for something that should actually be looked at as a badge of honor. It's cheap.

Your I'm not asking anyone to blindly bestow praises. I'm saying have more substance when listening to a person speak, then to just look at their physical flaws and point them out.

It definitely doesn't seem in your character to have a go at past boxers like that.

    1. I hadn't watched the video at that point. I was asking whether any of them were intelligible. I wouldn't want to watch if they all were as damaged as Bowe. That's my choice.

    2. "something that should actually be looked at as a badge of honour" ...... ARE YOU SERIOUS?? Are you actuallly say slurred speech, signs of premature dementia, loss of motor skills - pugilistica dementia - is something that should be seen as a "badge of honour" ??
A source of pride perhaps, something to make their mothers' proud ?
Something to remind us fans that they did us proud by sacrificing their abilities to communicate for the glory of this noble sport ?
    Get outta here.

Hell yeah a badge of honor. It's a symbol of what they had to go through for their careers. Pro boxers sacrifice everything, and risk dying every time they step in the ring.

They know the risks of fighting, and go through with it anyway. That takes real courage. It's a nasty thing when boxers health degrade, the least I can do is view it as a symbol of their sacrifice.
