Riddick Bowe out of order..?

yeah newman was a ***** of a man. he was the one who pulled elijah tillery over the top rope, made bowe vacate the wbc belt so that he could build up a fight against lewis (which didnt happen in the end), made bowe start picking with lewis, clearly made premeditated moves.

also didnt help that bowe wanted to be bowe so he did what he want. he was neither a nice guy or a bad guy. but that isnt entertinaing you have to be on either 2 sides of the coin.
so he was pushed as being a huggable amiable freindly guy who was easy to swallow and a bit more personal and colourful than evander. it clearly didnt suit him so he tried to be bowe which made him look a dickhead so it changed into the exact opposite like what sal said a listonesque guy who was bad, brooklyn, brownsville to the core.



facially looked like louis
brawled like fraizer
and boxed like ali
mixed together to make somthing not like either of them

i think that was somthing along the lines that reg gutteridge said in an itv description of him

 

Bowe & Newman were a pair of very odd looking ****wits. Boxing is better off without them.

 

Additionally, I seem to remember him being the primary antagonist in the riot that broke out following the Bowe Golata fiasco. He also attacked Ray Mercer's manager at ringside at another even. Yep, Rock Newman was a real ******* to say the least....

 

If Bowe had ever fought Ruiz, the battle of their managers would've been vastly more entertaing than in the ring.

 

Bowe went 10 rounds with Tony Tubbs without landing as many punches as he did there.

 

Whatever people might think of Bowe, he is still in my top 2 favorite fighters of all time.

 

Bowe has no moral Character or sense of honor. That's why he failed in an attempt to become a United States Marine!!

 

This was one occasion that i was kinda puzzled by , i was there in the pavillion at Caesars that afternoon, and Bowe said he had no hatred for Donald just that he was not motivated for the bout and needed to do some firing up in his own mind by trying to make the bout into some kinda grudge thing.. It turned out a hapless fight, Larry ran, scared half to death and Bowe came in fat, and lethargic.. Bowe did some nasty things in his career, The Ellijah Tillery incident where he and Rock between them tag teamed and threw Tillery out of the ring by holding him and punching him at the conclusion of round 1.. The Donald incident (YOUTUBE Thread in question) The Buster Mathis Jr hitting while on one knee in NJ , when he was a nanosecond from being disqualified by Arthur Mercante sr.... then his dirty tactics trying to goad Lennox at ringside the night he dethroned Holyfield.. Bowe became a very scandelous man in his years at the top , ending with him being given some of his own courtesy of Mister Golota, NB.. Riddick is not on the Valuev card.. He is on Saturdays Wlad Klitscko v Rahman card in Mannheim.. He is done, i watched him get a bashing from Billy Zumbrun in Cali a few years ago.... BTW.. The shot thrown at Donald was in fact just a very fast open palm, and not a fist , thank god.. it did look effective though and was very out of order.....

 

oh, thats why, cuz donald took the shot pretty well

 

Donald took the in-fight punches from Bowe pretty well too...I think Larry has a pretty solid jaw. Which made his extreme reluctance to get up close and fight even more frustrating sometimes.
