I know Hide wouldnt have seen 3 rounds with Tyson

To me, Bowe is essentially just another Buster Douglas (albeit a bit more consistent and maybe better managed)

Same guys, lots of talen, but fat and lazy and only really put it together for a short while (Buster against Tyson and Bowe against Holyfield)

Prime Tyson would have been all over Hide. Little doubt about that.

Bowe always struck me as a big, lazy fighter too. But he was sure impressive against Holyfield though.

I think any decent version of Tyson would always take Hide apart 2 rounds max. Even the late 90's version.

I just dont rate Hide at all (sorry Hide fans)

Apart from Holyfield, Tyson beat every single mutual opponent much quicker and better than Bowe did.

Thomas, Tubbs, Biggs, Mathis, Golota, Seldon

I dont want to say this, but i do feel Bowe gets a tad overrated in H2H fights.

    Not saying he is overrated

To me, hes more of a question mark than anything else.

Also, i find it a coincidence that in an era of punchers, neither he nor Frazier fought any (apart from Foreman). And both of them were trained by Futch and they fought decades apart......

Hide had as much KO power as Tyson, fighters who shared the ring with him said he hit like a truck. Don't forget he put Tucker away, albeit a passed prime version.

Tyson beating the same opponents as Bowe quicker means nothing at all, Bowe beat Holyfield and Tyson got his ass kicked by him, so what??

Tucker was about 160 years old. Past his prime was an understatement. Jus having power alone wont get you anywhere. He may have had as much power as Tyson, according to you, but who did Hide ever beat? Hide was a mediocre fighter on the level of a Bruce Seldon and would not have survived more than 2 rounds with Lewis or Tyson.

The point im making is, i dont rate Bowe as highly as Tyson or Lewis and as i said before aside from Holyfield, most of Bowes best wins were guys Tyson beat much more convincingly.

Bowe was past his prime when he fought Golota, but what was Tyson when he fought Golota?

I agree Tyson would have blown Hide out in quick fashion but Herbie hit as hard as anyone at heavyweight.

Tyson's style is all about blasting people out and preferably early, there's no wonder he beats people more impressively than most other guys, doesn't count for nothing though when fighting certain guys.

True, but the flipside is, questions need to be asked if you're struggling with fighters you shouldnt be especially when considering you have the size and skillset.

Bowe's shortcoming was he was easy to hit.
Together with his poor attitude to conditioning shortened his career in an alarming manner.

Heard from a few fighters that Hide was the hardest they fought - problem was his own punch resistance was fragile at best and he kinda fought like he knew it they way he ran around - he looked like he didn't wanna risked taking a flush shot at any stage even fresh out of the blocks - he was great when he was the one doing the hitting as long as he was doing it quicker than the other guys could hit him back - even his body had that kinda skinny look - as though it wouldn't be able to take many raking heavyweight shots - he'd often end up too far away too often to really do consistent hitting of his own but even though his hitting was sporadic he was doing it like he felt he had to really load up with everything and really make it count whenever he did - even though Tucker was past it the way he dealt with him was impressive he also really dumped Michael Bentt really heavily aswell and his punches did seem to have an instant effect on most of the guys I saw him against so even though he looked to have a bit of a herky-jerky style at times he must've had a lot behind his shots when he lashed out
