Holyfield a bigger puncher than Frazier with one punch???????????

Oh dear God... I've truly heard it all now...

I dont even know how to respond to that one. I'm just dumbfounded.

Lewis' ko's are over super heavyweights, not lightheavies!
    The best kos Frazier has are over 188lbs Foster who couldn't take a heavyweight s punch and 188lbs Doug Jones another is ex lhvy Chuck Leslie.Then we have;
Ali's sparring partner Mel Turnbow 6-3-0
    Abe Davis 5-22-1
    Al Jones10-35-2.He was ko'd 24 times!
    Don Smith 13-5-1
And dear old hype job Ziggy!

    Among others , Lewis ko'd
    Tyson234lbs
    Rahman 236lbs
    Grant 250lbs
    McCrory 221lbs
    Golota 244lbs
    Weaver 215lbs
Lewis is an all time top puncher Frazier is not.
Drawing attention to the lack of class ko's on Frazier's record is not "pedantic," it is a factually accurate observation.

**** me Chuvalo, Ellis, Machen and Quarry were as brutalized and beaten as anyone could get.

The fact a *T* was placed in front of the KO shouldn't be held against Frazier surely? They were legit stoppages against elite opposition. Ellis for one would've likely been severely hurt if he'd stepped out for the 5th round.

    As for Lewis's KO's
McCrory was Brit level at best
    Rahman had been KO'x2
Grant was big but glass jawed and robotic and couldn't fight for crap
Golota was a head case, a chicken **** and Brewster blitzed him even quicker
Weaver was a corpse by the time Lewis fought him.

Picking holes through resume's is pizz easy. Lewis was a great puncher and so was Frazier. Their identical KO ratio's attests to this.

This is a genuinely exciting matchup that I've never considered before. Could go either way. If its the Bowe of the first Holyfield fight I pick him to take this. Any other version and I back Frazier.

The guys Holyfield was fighting were on average considerably bigger than Frazier's opponents, I suspect if Holyfield had been fighting the smaller cruiserweights of Frazier's era like Ellis and Quarry his power would have appeared considerably more devastating and likewise against the bigger men of Holyfield's era Frazier would have had a lot of trouble scoring stoppages. He's not likely to stop Mercer for example or old Foreman.

Guys like Seamus will go on about the small size of Marciano's opponents and how they weren't heavies by todays standards but a lot of the guys Frazier beat were cruiserweights by modern standards.

Brutalized and beaten but didn't hear ten counted over them.
Frazier was not in Lewis' class as a puncher imo.
McCrory was a world cruiserweight champion.
Rahman was the world champion .
Grant was unbeaten and given a good chance ,the fact that Lewis blitzed him is down to Lewis' power.
Golota was a talented superheavy with excellent skill and good power.
Lewis was a 15 fight novice when he ko'd Weaver.
Lewis was a boxer puncher , Frazier was a come forward swarmer.
    Chalk and cheese.
Once again I'm not picking holes, I am presenting the facts, unpalatable to you though they may be.

But he beat a near prime Ali. And that erases any concerns I have about him competing with the top level of any heavyweight.

Ali was never tested against skilled super heavies like Wladimir Klitschko or Anthony Joshua. To think he does well today takes a pretty huge leap of faith given we never saw him compete against such guys.

Marciano fans and Dempsey fans frequently assert they compete today and you rightly point out they never faced anyone like Lewis or Wlad.

Well, I love Frazier, but I'd favor Riddick Bowe in this fantasy fight, due to their clash of styles, which in my opinion favors him. Now, I'm the first one to say that in any boxing match, it's not only about the stylistic match ups, but also the difference between their skillsets. With that being said, Bowe was very skilled, especially on the inside. He was also much bigger than Frazier.

Dempsey would be a lot more viable as a force today than Marciano, he was much quicker of hand and foot, did not bleed like a pig, had a lot longer reach and was more elusive.

Joe Frazier will wear Bowe out , drag him into the 14th round and drown him. Bowe will not discourage Frazier, Joe at his best is a level above. Replace Ali with Bowe in 1971 and Big Daddy gets ko'ed .

I think if Frazier was a bigger puncher he would have a much better chance of winning this matchup. Tyson is of similar dimensions to Frazier but in my opinion his explosiveness and power give him a much better shot at winning.
