    Tyson all the way.

You can't beat Tyson with the kind of methods Bowe employed.

Bowe would need to execute the Buster Douglad model to win this fight which he would not do.

This fight would ruin Bowe. His combination of bravery, durability and average defence would equal a terrible beating by a prime Tyson. Sure, he'd shake Tyson with some very good shots along the way and make it a very entertaining fight, but the way to win against Tyson was not through one or two good shots but to dominate him and beat him down. Bowe didn't have the defence or skill at long range to do this. He'd be sucked into a brawl and go down in flames. But what flames.

    Basicaly yes.

Douglas was not in Bowes class as a fighter but he had a style much better suited to beating Tyson.

    Styles make fights.

I picked Tyson, and still agree with my pick. Tyson is running away with this, so I would like to argue a way Bowe could win.

Mike Tyson was extended in fights with some taller fighter, like Razor Ruddock, because his opponents would place their forearms on his shoulders. With these fighters leaning on Tyson, it takes a good bit of steam off his punches when he has to push through their weight.

Bowe was also fairly active for a big man. Bowe out through, and out landed, Evander Holyfield on his way to losing a close decision in their 2nd fight.

If Bowe finds a way to successfully mix smothering Tyson and keeping his punch output at his normal rate, Bowe would have a chance of taking this.

Bowe had a poor defense and was very heavy on his feet. If Bowe tries to out box Tyson, he's done by the middle rounds.

Bowe wins by late stoppage. He was a good inside fighter, and would disrupt Tyson's brawling tactics up close, due to his superior strength...

Bowe would try an go toe to toe with Tyson and that would be his mistake. His defense is god-awful and would get stopped in the middle rounds.

I think Riddick Bowe has the best tools to beat Mike Tyson of all the great or near great heavyweights. However I don't if he will. Bowe has a size and reach advantage which would allow him to employ the Jab & Grab style that i the best style to beat Tyson with. In Eddie Futch or as he called him Papa Smurf the trainer to give him the right game plan. He also has a solid chin in which to adsorb Tyson's punches. While Tyson is the better puncher Bowe can hit hard as well.
Tyson has speed on his side. He also has agression. if Bowe uses Jab & Grab the Judges may score rounds for the more agresive Tyson if Bowe Grabs too much. Tyson also has an outstanding chin.
My pick is more a pick of instinct than boxing knowledge. Tyson by decision. I think to beat tyson you got to knock him out. The Jab & Grab is desingrd to stop Tyson late rather than win rounds. The best example of the Jab & Grab on Tyson was used by James Buster Douglas Tyson may have been past his best but he was still the best heavyweight in the world at the time. The scores at the end of the fight were: 88-82, 86-87, and 86-86. If Tyson could have beat the count and win the last two rounds the score would have been 116-110, 114-115 and 114-114. Tyson would have escaped with a draw. I think the result that night was due to Douglas being perfect or at least almost perfect he did go down in the 8th and tyson having an off night.
Bowe is better than Douglas but he would have to be near perfect and for Tyson to be having an off night.

I think a fight like this is one on heart and not necessarily skill. Both of these guys are skilled, but Bowes size and power would encourage Tyson to go into a shell where he holds and allows himself to be held. As explosive as Tyson is, he was not a great in-fighter, which Bowe was. When it becomes a grind-em out inside affair, this is where Tyson is his most vulnerable. Bowe by tko.

i dont think that bowes defenses could hold against tyson's aggressive offensive assault. i see bowe coming out and winning the first 2 to 3 rds by using the jab and keeping mike at arms length but an impatient tyson finds bowes body which therefore leads to the noggin via ko in rd 5 or 6 for mike.

I picked Tyson by knock out. Bowe's defensive isn't good enough and it wouldn't go to a decision because both would be trying to knock each other out. But Tyson's speed, combinations, combined with Bowe's subpar defense allows Tyson to get the KO. I think while it lasted it would be 3-4 rounds of very entertaining fighting.

The funny thing is, I think Bowe would need to fight inside to beat Tyson. Mike could be really lazy on the inside, and Bowe was a particularly good inside guy.

Backing off and trying to jab for me is playing right into Tyson's hands, who made a living of getting inside the jab and countering with hooks and right hands. Plus, Bowe didn't have the mobility to not allow Tyson to get set to throw his bombs.

On the inside though, that big uppercut Bowe had could do some nasty damage to a shorter guy. Obvously he'd have to be prepared to take some shots in return, but I honestly believe Bowe on the inside denying Tyson punching room is where he wants to be.

In any event, Bowe would probably try and set him up for the right hand by using the jab. In that instance, he'd just come off second best most of the time.

Vintage Tyson I'd pick to stop Bowe in seven rounds. Post 1990, Bowe has a decent chance of being the guy with bragging rights in Brownsville.

I agree that Bowe would try and fight in the inside. I just don't think he has the defensive tools to win this type of fight against Tyson, who would likely try and take a step backwards to get into mid range where he was at his best.
