Bowe is more explosive and is a better puncher than Valuev so probably not, Schmelling isn't much more explosive than Bowe if at all, they're close in terms of quality of their punching

A few things the Galento knockdown is a ridiculous argument - Louis was not knocked down (as in hurt and knocked down) he was knocked 'over' due to being timed forgetting his footing at that moment - he was literally knocked off balance and hit the mat - he was up in literally a second and wasn't hurt in the slightest bit - not one iota - so please can everyone just get real on that one please - that was not Louis being hurt and knocked down at all - also the Braddock thing was as much of a flash knockdown as your ever likely to see - again Louis was up in a flash looking surprised that he was put down from about the most inoccuous shot ever - Braddock didn't even have time to get to a neutral corner and Louis was up - sure he had to react quick because Braddock saw his moment and went for Louis as soon as he was up - no standing 8 - again this one is a pretty lame argument - within about 5 seconds of getting up Braddock was probably more hurt than Louis had been - and then got turtured for the next 7 rounds - also the Baer Brothers were easily as powerful as Bowe Max definately more powerful - also Billy Conn giving Louis a real scrap being used as an argument as to Bowe being able to beat Louis is a little ridiculous really - you couldn't really find two more different fighters?? And to say if Conn could do that with Louis then any fighter bigger and stronger could is ridiculous - look at the way Louis smashed the 250 Carnera, Abe Simon and Buddy Baer to peices??

Right and you also believe in the tooth fairy don't you?

Comparing a 1930s Schmeling's punch in terms of raw physical power or technique to that of Bowe's any that of any other big modern HW is downright ridiculous.

Let's think this through for a second: A guy like Schmeling who'd compete at LHW today floored Louis multiple times. Bowe deals more damages when landing a punch than Schmeling ever did. It's embarrassing to imagine how badly Louis would be thrown around the ring once Bowe lands his first right hand. It's like imagining Lennox Lewis getting 3 minutes in the ring with former LHW Michael Moorer. He'd turn him into mince meat.

The entire discussion is just riduclous. We're in ESB classic forum fantasyland.

Tough one to call. Bowe is bigger and stronger and should win this, however unlike Holyfield, Louis has THAT punch that can end things and Bowe does have a habit of leaving himself open...you dont give a guy like Joe Louis ANY oppurtunity like that

What the **** is going on today? Can you explain to me please why Bowe's straight right hand is technically superior to Schmeling's straight right hand please?

    Counter uppercut too.

I'd say they're pretty equal for the most part

I would entirely agree with you, when both are at their best. There are some ****ing weird opinions in these parts today, and they all seem to be about technical aspects, which should be apparent.

See, we actually are quite close here. I just think Schmeling´s the better - not necessarily harder - puncher because he is more acurate and got a better timing than Bowe. Don´t think there´s much in them in explosiveness.

Schmeling´s right hand is the best punch either of them has though and, to get back to the topic, look how many it needed of those to put Lous away. Bowe at his very best and if Louis is not able to put him - which I think he is - away may well win a decision. I just think his flaws play right into Louis´ strengths and this spells doom for him.

Yeah, sorry, I was completly of, you are totally right. Modern nutrition.

    Exactly!

Louis hit harder than any fighter Bowe has ever faced, EVER!

And, once Louis had Bowe in trouble, it's all she wrote!

Bowe was damn near impossible to stop though. Louis proved he could handle himself against superheavies, in terms of both punching power and physical strength. Bowe would be advised to pump the jab before he turns on the heat. Interesting matchup, I believe Bowe could outbox Louis from the outside and maul him on the inside with uppercuts and hooks. Jouis has the power to floor Bowe and the combos and intelligence to finish him. I gotta go with Bowe TKO 9 and Louis by decision in a rematch.

Bowe would go to war and Louis aint got the chin to go toe to toe with him. End of story

Pretty much what I think but to give Bowe credit, he demonstrated a very good chin in his later fights ... I think Louis wins a comfortable UD rather than a KO.
