I don´t think this is a good matchup for Tyson. Bowe had fine power und could bring it up close distance.. That ain´t good news for Mike. Well, Bowe would get hit too.

Bowe liked fighting smaller guys that he could bully. Tyson falls into only one of those categories.

    Agreed.

the other big thing would have been if Bowe was going to try his cheap shots and fouling with this opponent. I don't think so. So no punching after the bell/no low blows/no rabbit punching/no hitting on the break/ etc. And I sure don't see Bowe hitting Mike at a press conference like he did Donald. O rrock Newman storming the ring for whatever reason.

I feel like Bowe would do a lot of damage with his infighting and stop Mike. I'd expect him to take a lot of of shots too and have to get off the canvas once. Tyson would just allow himself to be held by his opponents up close though and he'd rarely work in the clinch. That and he'd stand with his feet close together. I see that as a recipe to get bludgeoned on the inside, similar to the weaknesses Lennox exploited against Tyson. I know that wasn't a prime Tyson, he was susceptible to that punch his whole career though. The difference with Bowe is that it wouldn't be one uppercut at a time like Lennox threw. It would be an uppercut followed by a three or four punch combination.

The question here is the mental state of Bowe, if Bowe is motivated he'll survive the first 4 to 5 rounds. After that Tyson is vulnerable

Bowe’s infighting is overrated and Tyson’s is underrated.

Mike doesn't make it five rounds, the uppercut knocks him sillier than Holyfield.

Tyson was a good fighter but his whole thing was boxers being intimidated by the hype about him. Bowe wouldn't have been intimidated by Tyson. He would of fought the same way he always fought. A prime version of Bowe would of been too much or Tyson. I would say Tyson would of been stopped in the mid rounds.

Tyson at his peak was an awesome force so I'm going for him but the peak version of Bowe in '92 would definitely be the toughest fighter he'd have faced.

Depends on how intimidated Bowe felt and whether he could bully Tyson with his size. Tyson had a way of neutralising size disadvantages in his prime though.

I think this would be one of the great fights. It's too bad that Mike went to jail just when things started to look really interesting in the division. It's a bit like Alin 1967, except that Ali got to face those guys later on.

I can't see Mike winning this if it goes past 6. Yes, he showed against Douglas and Botha that he still was dangerous in the second half of a fight, even when things were going against him. But even for Mike it's extremely hard to change things with just one punch and Bowe was so resilient and and never stopped. While Tyson just about always slowed markedly after the early rounds Bowe kept at it a throughout a fight, constantly at it. I think his uppercuts in close would be murder for a tiring Tyson seeking rest in the clinch, and it would a hard job getting past Bowe's thudding jab to get there in the first place.

So the question for me is if Tyson would get him out there early? Or if not could he do enough damage to keep the initiative for the rest of the fight? On the second point, I clearly lean towards no. It's not enough to just hurt Bowe and bang him up. If he survives he'll come back and take over against a faded Mike. There just wasn't any quit in Bowe and at his best he had an amazing engine.

So can Mike hurt Bowe and finish him early? Hurt him, certainly. Bowe could be hit and he could be hurt and Mike was one of the most precise and devastating fighters to ever put them on. The question is if he he finishes him. Hard to say. No one ever did, but then he never faced a finisher like Mike either.

All in all I feel that Bowe's advantage during the second half probably is slightly bigger than Mike's during the first, so I'll go for Bowe. But it is very hard to say.
